Lainey Wilson revealed the actual five-figure check that Keith Urban once gave her.

Wilson admitted that he was running on fumes, after doing more than 180 shows a year, and Urban wasn’t about to let him complain.

“I was on the road … I think we played 180-something shows that year,” he said during an appearance on the “No Filter” podcast. “And I saw him and I told him, I said, ‘I’m tired.’ And he was like, ‘There’s no crying on a yacht.’ And I said, ‘Keith, you better get out of my face.’

That’s not the only advice the “You’ll Think of Me” singer gave Wilson.

“Keith Urban was one of those guys for me,” he said. “He told me not too long ago. He’s like, ‘It’s better to keep a balance than to always try to achieve it.’

“To me that means finding what works for you,” added Wilson. “Have a work-life balance and don’t lose that. Because if you do, and you’re lost, then, like, it’s hard to go back.”

The “Her Reminders” star also gave credit to Miranda Lambert for helping her find her way in the industry.

“He’s been someone I can call, and he likes to tell it like it is,” Wilson explained. “And he’s one of the people who told me – He’s like, ‘It’s 20% music and 80% business. And then, when I start hearing that kind of stuff and I just take random wisdom that a lot of artists have been willing to share with me, I write it down in a little part of my phone.”

Wilson also recalled when he realized that some of the biggest names in country music were still his friends.

“It was one of those things where now I’m invited to the CMA Awards – the Country Music Awards,” the “Heart Like a Truck” singer said. “Now I’m going to sit with these people and sit at the same table with them. It’s the opposite. Then they start treating you like you’re one of them.”

Wilson said he couldn’t help but think back to when he was younger watching similar award shows.

“I just remember being a little girl watching all these awards and thinking, ‘Man, it would be really cool if I could be there and meet those people.’ Because I feel like I’m one of them,” he said.

That feeling deepened when the wins started coming. Wilson was honored as New Artist of the Year in 2022, and later won Entertainer of the Year in 2024 and 2025.

“It was one of those moments for me where I was like, ‘Okay, this is the industry that I’ve been working on for 15 years with my relationship. These people are coming to beat me,'” Wilson explained. “And now, people like Keith Urban and all the other people in between that I’ve met — when your peers and people you look up to are proud of you and vote for you. It makes you feel like, ‘OK, like that 9-year-old girl wasn’t so crazy.’
