Xfinity Offers 2026 World Cup Fans An Interactive, Bilingual Experience

Fans are ready to be seen 2026 FIFA World Cup — arguably the biggest TV sports event of the summer — has plenty of ways to keep up with the competition at home. Xfinity offers its customers a slate of FIFA-ready features, access to Fox One and the ability to watch games in English and Spanish, Comcast announced on Tuesday. The football event will run from June 11 to July 19, with more than 104 games and 48 teams from around the world.

Are you a Xumo Stream Box customer? Now you can use the Fox One appwhich is the broadcast platform that carries every single match of the World Cup. The service is now integrated with Xumo, but you’ll still need a paid subscription to watch it.

For Xfinity X1 customers, the home page will light up with World Cup action in the Sports Zone hub, where customers will find upcoming live matches, stats, clips (short-form stadium live videos) and ways to follow each team. If you saw all the Winter Olympic events this past February, you’re probably already familiar with the X1’s RealTime 4K technology, Fan View, AI-powered DVR and customizable, DIY Multiview feed.

CNET took a look at a demo of the World Cup build, noting that all of these features are available during the tournament, and in addition, Spanish and English voice commands that call up FIFA-related content are built into the experience. Say “Copa Mundial” on your voice remote, say the team’s name like “Argentina World Cup,” or say other phrases to get what you’re looking for. You can also open Peacock with a voice command to stream the same Telemundo in Spanish.

All 104 World Cup games will be broadcast in RealTime 4K in English, along with one select Spanish-language game of the day from Telemundo. The 4K stadium feed during the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics was only “17 seconds after the action on the field,” said Kelly Wright, Comcast’s director of sports product and strategy.

With an AI-assisted DVR function, playback will include highlights marked as saves, goals and penalty kicks. Multiview is customizable and allows you to zoom in on one screen, change the audio between feeds, or flip which screen you want to zoom in on. And if you also have an Apple TV subscription, you can add live F1 races to your four-screen feed if you want — just like you’re simulcasting FIFA matches or any other live sporting event. The fifth panel on the right shows you the latest sports statistics. The Fan View feature not only allows you to keep up with the stats and standings, but also allows you to edit it to follow different countries during the World Cup or take a shortcut to the Xfinity clips feature.

To help prevent potential problems, Comcast plans to introduce what it calls smart boost Wi-Fi, a new feature that allows Internet customers to prioritize where the Wi-Fi juice flows. If you have multiple devices connected — smart TVs, game consoles, phones, computers and more — you can choose where to give the signal more power.

“It takes the Wi-Fi device you’re watching the game on — watching it in RealTime 4K — and says, ‘hit OK for smoother Wi-Fi when this gets busy,’ and prioritizes traffic on that device for the next five hours,” Wright explained.
