The 28-year-old has been at Borussia Dortmund since 2021, with sporting director Sebastian Kehl calling him ‘a top-class goalkeeper who has attracted many of Europe’s top clubs’.

Manchester United and Belgium

What a difference a good goalkeeper makes, eh? For years, Manchester United have struggled with Andre Onana between the sticks but since arriving in the summer of 2025, Lammens has shown composure in net for Ruben Amorim and then Michael Carrick.

The Belgian seems to be a struggling goalkeeper and finishes all his actions with carelessness. All you need is a goalkeeper.

AC Milan and France

Mike Maignan’s impressive displays in Italy with AC Milan have fueled recent rumors of a move to the Premier League, with the France No.1 linked with Chelsea and Man Utd.

Now captain of Milan, Maignan has made over 150 appearances for the European giants and has won the Goalkeeper of the Year award in France and Italy during his playing career.

At the age of 30, Maignan appears to be approaching the peak of his career, and has been praised by Kylian Mbappe for his penalty save following his World Cup heroics for France.

Jordan Pickford

Everton and in England

Everton’s Jordan Pickford has been England’s first choice for nearly nine years now, and has impressed again this season for the Toffees ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Pickford kept three clean sheets in December and has been a consistent performer and is arguably going under the radar when it comes to being called one of the best in the world. He played a key role for the Three Lions in the summer of 2026.

Jan Oblak

Atletico Madrid and Slovenia

Jan Oblak has been one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the last decade for both Atletico Madrid and Slovenia. His impressive presence and excellent shot-blocking ability saw him keep more than 220 clean sheets for the La Liga club, who took the Spanish league title in 2021.

At 33 years old, Oblak shows no signs of slowing down and continues to be a regular under Diego Simeone. He was also called “one of the best” in the words of Lionel Messi.

Emiliano Martinez

Aston Villa and Argentina

Argentina champion, Emiliano Martinez continued to play for many years after helping his country win the World Cup in Qatar.

With Aston Villa, Martinez played a key role in helping them qualify for the Champions League and has been called a “mature” and “better” goalkeeper by Unai Emery. Named FIFA’s Best Men’s Goalkeeper in 2024, Martinez remains in 2026.

After doubts over his future two summers ago, Martinez has become an integral part of the Aston Villa squad.

Unai Simon

Athletic Club and Spain

One of the three Spaniards in the top ten, and the lowest ranked, Luis de la Fuente kept faith in Simon for the World Cup and was awarded the World Cup.

Simon was the best goalkeeper in the competition, keeping seven goals in eight games. He was amazingly handsome but in domestic matters he is still surpassed by two of his own people.

Joan Garcia

Barcelona and Spain

Joan Garcia was the most wanted goalkeeper in the summer of 2025 following his eye-catching performances for Espanyol.

The Spaniard appeared to be heading to Arsenal to link up with fellow countrymen Mikel Arteta and David Raya, however, Barcelona swooped in and secured a deal.

It proved to be a smart decision, Garcia’s first choice when fit, and he has a contract at the Nou Camp until 2031.

Liverpool and Brazil

Alisson has helped transform Liverpool since moving to Anfield in 2018 from Roma. A two-time Golden Glove winner in the Premier League, the Brazil No.1 has been a reliable player for the Reds but has struggled with various injuries from time to time.

However, when fit, he is still one of the best in the world, as shown by his performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025 Champions League.

Alisson described that display against PSG as the best of his life, leading Harvey Elliott to call him “the best in the world”. He is still among the best in 2026.

Real Madrid and Belgium

Thibaut Courtois has been a world-class player in England and Spain over the past decade for Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The Belgian has been at the Bernabeu since 2018 and has won the highest honors at club level, proving to be a consistent player for the Galacticos. He has been keeping important clean sheets in the La Liga title race, praised by Real Madrid fans as a result.
