Amazon’s annual Prime Day sale is back for the 12th year, but this year, it’s just a few weeks away.
The sale, which usually takes place in mid-July, is back June 23 to June 26. Although it’s still a few weeks away, Prime Day-worthy deals have already started rolling out, with a strong showing from premium and budget headphone brands alike.

In a head-to-head between the Sony XM5 vs XM6 headphones, I often recommend the XM5s, especially if you don’t mind folding the ear cups. However, while both headphones are currently on sale, the XM6s are currently at their lowest price ever, while the XM5s sit well $35 away from their record low. If you’re looking to buy sooner rather than later, new headphones are best – and you’ll get the best combination of sound quality and noise cancellation available on the consumer market.

The Sony WF-1000XM6 earbuds are some of the best I’ve tried, but even at their retail prices, they’re a great investment. While the Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds aren’t quite up to snuff in terms of sound quality, they still have the best noise cancellation available, and they’re the most comfortable earbuds I’ve ever tried. At around $50 less, they’re a great deal leading up to Prime Day.

Why we love you
Bose was the almost undisputed champion of great-sounding earbuds – that is, until the Sony LinkBuds came along. In my head-to-head testing of the earbuds, I found that while the Bose Earbuds are loud (an important feature for open-back earbuds), the clarity and sound detail of the Sony buds surpasses the Bose. Even though the $70 price difference is small with both buds on sale, the sub-$200 price point on Sony’s earbuds is hard to pass up.
