The Internet reacts to the first ever World Cup halftime show

The final match of the FIFA World Cup between Spain and Argentina is alive and well. And to add to the festivities was a fun but unusual idea in the world of soccer organization: the halftime show.
Soccer is usually a fast-paced game, but with this World Cup being co-hosted in the US (the first US World Cup since 1994), it has fallen into the American Sports Entertainment Vortex™. Which isn’t a bad thing, except for the universal dislike of hydration breaks, which many commentators have pointed out are glorified commercial breaks for the Fox network.
But given the lineup — Shakira, Madonna, BTS, and Justin Bieber, with a Sesame Street cameo and a well-placed Ted Lasso intro — the first World Cup halftime show was anything but. good.
The whole thing came in under six minutes, which somehow made it interesting: FIFA spent months making a short-lived show that was shorter than the ad break before it. The Internet saw and acted accordingly.

Ted Lasso x Justin Bieber?
After the buzz from BTS’s quick appearance, Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis and Brendon Hunt did a quick introduction to Justin Bieber, “inserting” him into the halftime show as the much-needed heart of the game. Bieber’s song, unfortunately, flopped, and viewers weren’t kind to it.
