The £60m England star wants to join Man Utd

Manchester United’s top priority in the transfer window this summer has been no secret as of late – complete the overhaul of the club’s midfield door.

Casemiro’s departure from Old Trafford highlighted the need to add a ball-winner, with Manuel Ugarte expected to follow the Brazilian out the door.

Michael Carrick’s men have already made significant moves in the window, after agreeing a £40m deal with Atalanta for the services of Ederson – who is currently at the World Cup with Brazil.

INEOS are said to be looking at at least two more additions to the heart of the side, but no further transfers have yet been agreed with any of the players currently on their shortlist.

However, other areas of the club will also be the subject of major investment, the most important of which will be the success of the Premier League next term.

The £60m Premier League star now wants to join Man Utd

As part of this summer’s recruitment drive, United will no doubt also look closely at the Premier League market and try to prize some top talent away from other sides in the division.

West Ham United may have lost out to England’s top team, but the Red Devils are determined to capitalize on the opportunity and are pursuing a move for Crysencio Summerville.

It has been reported that talks have already been held with the player’s representatives regarding a move to Old Trafford, leading to a £50m price tag being placed on his signature.

The Dutchman is not the only United Kingdom-based player INEOS are targeting, with Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall another target at the moment.

According to The Sun, the player is aware of United’s interest and would be keen to join Carrick’s side ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The report claims the 21-year-old is said to be disappointed after missing out on England’s World Cup squad – after which he blamed current manager Eddie Howe.

However, any deal would be too expensive for the Red Devils in this window, as the Magpies would demand at least £60m to offload their talented defender.

Why Hall would be a better signing than Fernandes for United

Summerville is not the only player from West Ham currently being watched by United this summer, with midfielder Mateus Fernandes a star player the Red Devils are trying to sign.

As a midfielder, the Portugal star is expected to leave the London Stadium after being relegated, but the Hammers are determined not to sell the 21-year-old on the cheap.

A fee of around £85m was charged to secure his signature – just an astronomical figure for a player who has enjoyed a successful campaign in the Premier League.

However, Carrick and INEOS are trying to negotiate a lower transfer fee this summer in an attempt to find a long-term solution to their current midfield woes at Old Trafford.

While Fernandes undoubtedly caught the eye last term, such a high price will no doubt worry supporters with cheap and possibly less expensive deals available.

Hall may be a left-back and not a central midfielder by trade, but the move to sign him could be a better addition – especially for the rumored price tag.

The Newcastle star has spent the last three years as a regular starter under Howe on Tyneside and has since developed into one of the best left-backs in the division.

A long-term solution to such a situation is also being sought by INEOS this summer, with the departure of a 21-year-old capable of securing the club’s top-level talent for the near and long-term future.

In the 2025/26 campaign, the youngster managed to complete an incredible 1.5 out of 90 dribbles – placing him in the top 5% of defenders in Europe.

The aforementioned statistic highlights his incredible ability to drive the ball into dangerous areas, but he also finished his runs – as evidenced by his 29% completion rate.

However, off the ball, Hall has been equally impressive in recent times, as seen in his 5.5 disposals and 2.2 disposals per 90 disposals in 2025/26.

The former is part of these two figures, placing him in the top 4% of full-backs in the Premier League, and the youngster proved to be a top-quality player for United.

£60m would be another big deal for the Red Devils, but it could give them a player who could easily reach the next level in the coming years.
