Maine libertarian and popular author Stephen King is siding with Democratic U.S. Senate challenger Graham Platner on Monday amid growing calls for him to drop out of the race.

The political situation was shaken on Monday after allegations of sexual harassment against Platner surfaced. Jenny Racicot, one of those who used to work with Platner, said to Politico that he entered her home drunk in 2021 and raped her. Platner has denied the allegations.

While Platner’s future in the Maine Senate race is hanging in the balance, the “The Shining” and “It” icon creator is hopeful that he won’t give up.

“Graham Platner may resign. (I hope he doesn’t, though.) Meanwhile, the Great Tormentor just keeps going,” King wrote in X. The author, an outspoken Trump critic, was referring to various allegations of sexual misconduct against the president, which he has long denied.

In the next text of X, King added, “Tell me that—if you knew the whole truth about everyone in the Senate and the House of Lords, those chambers would be dead empty. Jesus said, ‘Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.’

Many speculated that Platner’s exit from the Senate race was imminent, although he pledged to withdraw in a video address in response to the allegations.

“So, regardless of the accuracy of the report, but keeping in mind the political reality that will be delivered, we are taking the time to look at the best way for the country that I love, the people that I love, the movement that I am a part of, and the goal of defeating Susan Collins,” Platner said in the video. “Those were the goals when we launched this campaign, and they are still my goals today.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Platner’s campaign about King’s comments.
