Spurs could replace Tudor with “one of the best coaches”

Tottenham Hotspur have fallen by the wayside this season, and unless they find some form somewhere in the next few weeks, they will fall into the Premier League play-off spot.
Given that they have a squad that lacks suitable players, this is more than just a concern. Igor Tudor has impressed since taking over from the embattled Thomas Frank, three games down and without a point or a good performance to show for it.
Time is running out, and relegation is on the cards, and with that in mind, sports director Johan Lange and ENIC powers to consider whether they will make another drastic change in the pit.
Spurs are already considering sacking Tudor
Tottenham made a bit of a left-field decision when they appointed Tudor, a manager with a short shelf in the dugout and no experience within the English game.
Of course, now that he has been appointed, any move must be made without rocking the boat, but TEAMtalk still reports that the board are considering sacking the struggling Croatian and replacing former striker Robbie Keane, who is currently plying his trade at Hungarian giants Ferencvaros.
However, GIVEMESPORT have revealed that Roberto De Zerbi is at the top of the Tottenham manager’s shortlist, with Tudor in charge on a temporary basis.
Should the Londoners decide to offload the 47-year-old, they could accelerate their interest in former Brighton & Hove Albion boss De Zerbi, who has been out of a job since being sacked by Marseille in 2026. However, he is one of the most sought-after managers around, with Liverpool and Manchester United also linked with him.
Mauricio Pochettino is alongside De Zerbi at the top of Tottenham’s lineup, but he will lead the USMNT out of the World Cup this summer, so there is a good chance De Zerbi will be brought in to save the day.
Why Spurs should appoint De Zerbi
De Zerbi, a target in the summer, will have serious doubts about managing a Tottenham team that entered the Championship.
But the Italian is nothing if not confident, and although the Premier League’s top rivals have been linked, he would fancy his chances of beating Spurs in the final few months of the season, proving himself a hero before taking charge of a much-needed summer rebuild.
Like Tudor, De Zerbi has a strong personality, but unlike Tudor, he is a supreme professional, once praised by Pep Guardiola for his “unique” brand of attacking football at Brighton. Marseille also praised him as “one of the best coaches in the world”. After all, he finished second to PSG in Ligue 1 last year.
Keane may be a romantic interest at the N17 club (as Poch would), but De Zerbi is improving and proven in the English game. The Irish coach will be a gamble, and Tottenham only have time to roll the dice once.
While it is true that the Italian is a summer target, he is also out of action, and while bringing him in now will cost a fortune, sacking Tudor will create a change of plans, which the Lilywhites could end up benefiting from.
Tottenham haven’t been a convincing side in football this season, but De Zerbi has a proven Premier League record in that regard, and that’s something that could see him step up throughout the rest of the campaign.

In the 2023/24 campaign, Tottenham, under the wing of Ange Postecoglou, were experts in football. Fans remember that halcyon time, of course, with Frank well up against these tactics. The Tudor side have finished each of the three competitions having seen little football so far.
It is clear that Tottenham are running out of options. Keane is at the start of his managerial career, and has never worked within the English game.
De Zerbi, however, is a larger-than-life character with a technical skill set to match. He could be just what this wayward group needs.
