Sophie Cunningham shocks the internet with a Phoenix entrance costume, a new punishment for delicious balls and ribs!

Let’s kick off the Friday Screencaps with the news that summer has officially started here, as the rec baseball season came to an end last night in the second round of the NW Ohio 14U playoffs.

The boys battled through three innings, and trailed 5-2 against a 14-year-old flameout before they went to the bullpen and brought in a flaming, foul-pitching 14-year-old that had our kids lost and sniffing in the stands.

Screencaps Jr. he came in, got his first taste of the high mound for the first time in two months and struggled. A few walks and solid singles later and we were going home with a 12-2 loss. The competitor didn’t hit a single ball in the air on our infield, but they must have had 8-10 singles in the holes.

My message after the season finale was simple: You guys didn’t give up after the early season. We had a rough start, but the boys won five in a row before losing last night. I explained how a boxer will face opponents who are afraid.

Last night, we didn’t play. I had a guy take an 85 mile fastball to the small of his back that was one of the most brutal hits you will ever see and hear. The child could not inflate. After catching his breath and not wanting to show that he was in pain, the boy stood up and stole second base.

The boys have been strong mentally and physically this season. They moved on to other games and activities. I hope I made a difference in their lives this summer.

A quick look at last night:

  • The opposing coach comes to me before the game and says they had a kid coming off ACL surgery and they wanted to use pinch-runners on the guy and how they wanted to protect his knee as much as possible. No problem, let’s play football. Guess who pitched the 4th inning and was sitting on a reconstructed knee? Yes, the 5’11, 250-lb. with bum ACL. I’m no doctor, but sitting on a reconstructed knee with all that weight was probably worse than the basics of running.
  • Fake raised mounds are rubbish. They are ridiculously high for 14U rec kids and seem injury prone. Our boys went from jumping on slightly higher hills, or not at all, to standing on a platform. It’s a big problem in our home league because we don’t use mounds in the regular season.

Here he is, Caitlin Clark’s bodyguard looking like he didn’t have the day before last night’s game in Phoenix. However, what about Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White blowing up and refusing to address a letter sent to the WNBA by members of Congress questioning whether Clark’s treatment was racially motivated when asked about it by OutKick’s Dan Zaksheske.

White declined to speak to the publication. He is as weak as they come. The anti-straight White Women League continues.

Guys, you don’t need to contact John Boehner about the cuts. I’m sitting here next to my phone. I can tell you why white collar America wants their yard to look clean. It’s because we don’t want to look like complete slobs. White collar workers, and millions of blue collar workers, have worked their asses off for YEARS to buy homes and create amazing pieces of architecture.

My biggest problem with this article is turning white collar. We should all be concerned about taking good care of our buildings. We should be filled with pride when we mow on Thursday night and stare at our lawn as the sun sets. We should puff up our chests when someone compliments the way our property looks.

I believe that pride in property leads to pride in society. This is not difficult.

No bumper stickers were a dead giveaway.

I believe they have been gone for five days straight drawing dongs for the weather.

– Philly Ray in MN asks: Hi Joe, nice accompanying video as well. I have a few questions about the towel hanging from your belt loop.

A. Why isn’t this in your cart or golf bag?

B. It looks like a dry towel flapping in the wind. Is there something wet in your cart? What happened on those windy days?

C. Is this for wiping sweaty hands during the wet cycle? If so, that’s what I can get behind..

Inquiring minds want to know. Keep it up.

Kinsey:

  1. It was 105 degrees; between drinks and sweat, hands were still wet
  2. It was Ryder Cup day; in the past, everyone wore the colors of their team; this year, it didn’t really happen, but I’m still loyal to the gimmick
  3. There was zero wind. I’m still talking. 105 degrees with humidity and not a breeze

That’s it this morning. What a week. I feel like I’m getting back into the swing of things. I hate people on social media. I am talking about articles that have been missing for the past six weeks. I’m back to finding the little nuggets that eluded me in late May and June.

Enjoy your weekend. Hit the lake. Stay cool. Watch football and the Tour de France on a Sunday morning if you’re just wandering around. Let’s embrace those dog days of summer.
