Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., wants to show “who are the good guys and who are the bad guys” with an official wish list he wants to deliver to President Donald Trump at a Republican meeting with the president this week.

In a letter to fellow Senate Republicans obtained by Fox News Digital, Scott laid out a plan for the next six months that would strip Democrats of their ability to shut down the government before the midterm elections and possibly find a way to pass the Save America Voters (SAVE) America Act.

“We need to make a clear distinction between who is good and who is good,” Scott wrote. “We have to show what Republicans stand for and what Democrats stand for with action, not rhetoric.”

His guidance comes ahead of Trump’s scheduled meeting with Senate Republicans on Wednesday. Trump accepted an invitation to attend a Senate Republican Steering Committee luncheon from Scott last week.

Republicans are preparing for their face-to-face meeting with Trump following a series of decisions that have blocked roads in their journey to advance policy priorities, and await a briefing from the administration on the recently signed cooperation memorandum with Iran.

“I think it’s going to be a lot of different things,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune, RS.D., about what to expect at the meeting.

“Hopefully, we’re celebrating some of our successes, we’re talking about a way forward, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the SAVE Act, the SAVE America Act, or whatever it is, comes through,” he continued.

The SAVE America Act, in particular, proved difficult to pass in the Senate. When a paired version of the voter ID and citizenship verification legislation broke 50 votes earlier this month, combined opposition from Senate Democrats and Republicans unwilling to support the bill sidelined it.

Nevertheless, Trump continued to demand that Republicans pass the SAVE America Act, demanding that it be linked to the reauthorization of the country’s spying powers or continue the pargy budget reconciliation process.

Scott said Senate Democrats would shut down the government again before the election to gain political leverage, given their record shutdown record last year. He also acknowledged that while the SAVE America Act was very important to Trump, “Republicans are not united in ending the filibuster to pass Republican priorities.”

Included in his talk with lawmakers is a plan to pass a funding extension to keep the government open “at least until after the November election,” and to replace the current version of the SAVE America Act or parts of it that require voter ID or proof of citizenship before registering to vote.

Other agenda items include the passage of anti-closure legislation, as Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., a bill to pay government workers during the shutdown, and Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., is proposing to pass automatic short-term financing extensions in the event of a shutdown.

Scott also wants to pass legislation that will end fraud, reduce government waste, reduce government spending, add a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, bills aimed at making the country safer and other tax cuts.

“We need to show voters that we are listening to them and will fight for their priorities whether or not any Democrats vote with us,” Scott wrote.
