Ryan Garcia Key to Shakur Stevenson Zuffa Deal

Bradley tied that estimate to report the purchase numbers, saying 1.2 million homes were purchased at Stevenson’s latest event. That figure would put Stevenson in a rare position. Industry observers, however, have not widely confirmed the numbers at that level, and unofficial tracking often puts his pay-per-view performance below that mark.

If Bradley’s rating is accurate, Stevenson is undervalued. If it is increased, financial risk increases rapidly. The way to reduce that risk is obvious: Ryan Garcia.

Bradley did not mention the formula. “You have to find Latinos. That’s the solution. Race drives everything. Time.”

Garcia brings a large Mexican-American fan base, an established pay-per-view history, and reach beyond a solid boxing audience. Stevenson’s rivalry vs. Garcia sells identity, difference, and cultural heat. That’s the kind of event that supports a $30 million guarantee.

Without Garcia, the equation changes. Stevenson is an undefeated multi-division champion and a top professional, but he is often described as a purist attraction rather than a mainstream commercial engine. Bradley challenged that notion, pointing to Stevenson’s ESPN ratings and his ability to headline Madison Square Garden.

“Shakur was the highlight. On average, he was higher than any other average of any other fighter, period,” Bradley said.

Even if those comparisons are contested, the underlying problem remains: measurement depends on scale. A fight with Conor Benn might work in the United Kingdom, but it doesn’t automatically translate into huge American pay-per-view revenue. For a company trying to establish boxing’s credibility in the US, that distinction is important.

Bradley also highlighted the long-term upside of Stevenson’s trade, suggesting that beating Garcia could propel him to the next level. “He got a chance to be bigger than Terence Crawford. He got a chance to reach that level of Mayweather and surpass Mayweather.”

That is a position statement, and it depends on future negotiations that have not yet been concluded. Stevenson is currently associated with Matchroom Boxing, which covers any form of immediate signing. Any entry into Zuffa may require cooperation rather than simple acquisition.

Bradley’s argument, minus the hype, is about price and choice of opponents. If Garcia is protected, $30 million turns into an aggressive but defensible investment. If Garcia isn’t part of the picture, that number looks more like a guess than a strategy. Even in boxing, speculation is expensive.
