The owner of a well-respected American home and President Donald Trump in southern California has died from injuries suspected in an attack by a stranger last week.
Police announced Sunday night that Kerry Sheron, 69, passed away after several days in critical condition at the hospital. Sharon, a US Army veteran, had a home in Escondido, California, decorated with American flags and Trump memorabilia.
The attack took place outside Sharon’s property, which had been subject to complaints and vandalism for years.

Deputy District Attorney Ross Garcia described the brutal attack, which was allegedly carried out by Thomas Caleb Butler, 32. He said Sheron was hit once in the jaw and fell to the ground before the suspect repeatedly punched her in the head, according to NBC 7.

Butler was taken into custody without incident after a brief search, and charged with attempted murder. Police said the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office is “reviewing the circumstances to determine if the charges will be amended.”
According to Butler’s friend, he was a Navy veteran with PTSD.

The California Post reported that Butler was “sitting in his room and thinking everyone was going to pick him up,” according to a friend, and that despite taking medication, his condition was worsening.

Around 2:15 pm on Wednesday, police in Escondido, California responded to reports of an assault at the intersection of East Mission Avenue and Buchanan Street, near the “Trump House.”

They found a man, later identified as Sheron, “severely injured,” and police said a bystander who intervened during the attack was also injured.

His wife, Maria Garcia, told The Post last week that she did not expect her husband to survive.
Garcia also thought that the attack was politically motivated.

“He tried to kill my husband, you know” he told CBS 8. “It’s bad. I don’t know what kind of hatred… what kind of heart, black heart.”
“They don’t like flags. I don’t know why. I support America. My husband does [a] veteran,” he said.
