San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama avoided adding an impressive third point to his postseason tally. Under NBA policy, players are subject to an automatic suspension if they collect four foul points.

Wembanyama made contact with Jalen Brunson’s upper body as the New York Knicks guard attempted to set a screen in the first quarter of Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday. When the Spurs center turned around during the play, he pushed Brunson, who fell backwards to the floor.

The referees did not blow the whistle for foul play in the game, although the Knicks bench strongly opposed it. ESPN reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that Wembanyama will not be re-evaluated as a “dramatic development of an untold evil.”

The game has sparked debate around the world, and President Donald Trump, who attended Monday’s game, was one of those who took part.

“I thought it was a terrible call. Absolutely. I thought it was a terrible call, personally. But I’m not a ref, you know?” Trump told the New York Post on Wednesday.

Trump watched the Knicks’ first NBA Finals game in 27 years sitting in the stands with his grandson Kai Trump and was spotted sitting next to team owner James Dolan. Trump became the first sitting president of the United States to attend an NBA Finals game.

They are like great players. That’s why they’re there, right?”
