NHL rumors: Alexander Georgiev, and the Chicago Blackhawks

Alexander Georgiev wants to return to the NHL next season

Hockey News Hub: Spartak KHL goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev had one year left on his contract, and his contract was terminated.

His agent Stanislav Romanov said Georgiev wants to return to the NHL: “The goal is to return to the NHL. Alexander expressed a desire to try the NHL again. There was such an agreement.”

update: Hockey News Hub: “This was terminated by Alexander Georgiev. It wasn’t the same. He bought out the last year of his contract to pursue an NHL career again.”

From big name offer sheets to free agents to the Chicago Blackhawks draft

Scott Athletic Power: (mailbag 1) It sounds like the Chicago Blackhawks are open to anything this offseason. We will see who will be available for trade. Teams looking to trade for a key piece/player will likely want to get a key player in return.

Dreger Spitballs a Massive Toronto Maple Leafs, St. Louis Blues Deal

If St. Louis Blues will move Robert Thomas, they may be fine with getting picks and prospects in return. If the Minnesota Wild are looking to move money, Ryan Hartman would make sense. If Alex Tuch hits free agency, the Blackhawks will come calling, but does it really make sense for the Blackhawks to offer the 30-year-old $10-plus million?

Could they give a sheet to Vegas Golden Knights forward Pavel Dorofeyev? He could come in at around $10 million and would cost the first two, second and third if such a sheet is matched. Would Dorofeyev even consider signing an offer sheet? If it’s more than $11.94 million, it would be four first-round picks.

The Blackhawks may want Kevin Korchinski on a two-year contract, but they may be looking at one and then be eligible for compensation after next season.

Don’t think the Blackhawks can put together a Jason Robertson trade offer good enough for the Stars to consider. They will probably be looking for players and not selectors and prospects.

If the first three picks of the draft go forward, think they’ll select Chase Reid at No. 4, even if he’s a right guard.

He still believes that Ilya Mikheyev will re-sign with the Blackhawks, even if he has permission to talk to other teams. The Blackhawks hope that after talking to some teams, he realizes that there is no better deal.

Think the Blackhawks will try to land a left-handed, shifty NHL defenseman. They may want someone younger who can be around for more than a year or two.

NHL Rumors: Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks

The Toronto Maple Leafs asking the Blackhawks for Matthew Knies last time was big, and it wasn’t close. Frank Nazar and a first-round pick seem like a lot for the Knies, and don’t think the No. 4 will be played. They could use a player like Knies, though.
