Tottenham now fear a hijack as Man Utd enter the race for Marcus Tavernier

Manchester United are now in the race to sign the “amazing” Premier League star, with Tottenham Hotspur already making inquiries.

Man Utd are swooping in to sign the attacking midfielder

Man United will need to strengthen in the middle of the park this summer, given that Casemiro is set to leave at the end of his contract, and there are doubts over the future of Manuel Ugarte, with Fabrizio Romano recently confirming that there has been interest from elsewhere.

The transmission expert said: “Casemiro is leaving for free, but around Ugarte, there is already movement in terms of clubs that are interested. There are clubs in Italy that are considering the possibility of going to Ugarte, so there is interest from Italy.

“In the January window, Galatasaray was interested, but nothing tangible, nothing really improved, so all the teams decided not to continue. But Ugarte in the summer can explore the options and finally leave Manchester United.”

As such, the Red Devils would need to bring in at least two new midfielders, and there are plenty of options on the shortlist, with Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes among the targets.

However, United are also keen on bringing in an attacking midfielder, according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claim they are now in the race to sign AFC Bournemouth star Marcus Tavernier.

Tottenham Hotspur now fear a hijack, having already made several inquiries over a deal for the attacking midfielder, while Newcastle United have also shown strong interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils view Tavernier as a versatile option in attack, and some of his performances in the Premier League this season suggest he could be ready to step up…

“Incredible” Tavernier may be ready for a big move

Hailed as a “miracle” by former AFC Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil, the English coach has shown versatility playing in midfield and on both wings this season, netting five goals and providing four assists in 25 Premier League outings.

No Bournemouth player has contributed more goals this season, and the 26-year-old has the second highest FotMob rate in the club at 7.12, higher than Ugarte, Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo.

The speed of the Bournemouth star was also seen in his team’s 1-1 draw with Brighton back in January, he played a big role in his team winning the penalty, which he converted.

Having already proven himself in the Premier League, Tavernier is now set for a move to one of the top clubs in the division, but Bournemouth are in a strong negotiating position, having a contract until 2029.
