Newcastle could replace Anthony Gordon with a Crystal Palace target looking to join him
Newcastle United could be linked with a move for Anthony Gordon by signing the in-form winger who has been eyed by Crystal Palace since last year, according to a new report.
Gordon’s future at Newcastle is one of the most important stories building up ahead of the summer transfer window, and the uncertainty surrounding the England midfielder is already shaping the club’s recruitment plan.
Gordon has been one of Newcastle’s most reliable players since arriving from Everton in January 2023, scoring 67 goals in 152 appearances for the club.
In this season alone he has scored 22 goals, which makes him one of the most players playing in the Premier League despite the team being disappointed.
Bayern Munich have identified him as their main target for the left winger and, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, believe there is a good chance he will sign.

The player himself is rumored to be open to a move to Germany, possibly inspired by the success Michael Olise has enjoyed following a similar switch.

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2030 and the club have set their asking price in response to growing interest.
He was absent from Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth with a hip flexor complaint, although summer talks are increasingly dominating around him, his Tyneside career may already be over.
Christos Tzolis wants to join Newcastle and could replace Anthony Gordon
It is against that backdrop that Newcastle have begun to identify potential replacements, and one name has emerged in a SportsBoom report this week – Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis.
The 24-year-old Greek international enjoyed a fine season in Belgium, scoring 16 goals and providing 22 assists in 46 games in all competitions.
In the Belgian Pro League alone he has 13 assists, making him one of the continent’s most attractive players at this level.
Newcastle are among the clubs monitoring him closely, and SportsBoom understands that Tzolis himself will be attracted by the idea of a move to St James’, viewing Newcastle as a historic club with real European ambitions.
Norwich City signed him from PAOK for £11.5 million in 2021 – a club record at the time – and although his time with the Canaries never broke out at Premier League level, he produced a memorable performance in the League Cup by scoring twice and providing two more assists in a 6-0 win over Bournemouth.
Subsequent loan spells at FC Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf helped him find his feet before Club Brugge signed him permanently last summer for over £5 million.
He is under contract in Belgium until 2029 and will cost more than what Brugge paid for him, with the club likely to want north of £26 million.
Crystal Palace, who have been tracking him since last year, and Leeds United are also interested.
However, Newcastle’s bid is understood to be a real factor in where Tzolis wants to go – making him one to watch as the summer approaches.
He will replace Gordon directly, but Howe’s side may end up paying part of their earnings for the Englishman to sign Tzolis.
