New Roombas 2026: iRobot drops 5 new robot vacuums and wet vacuum after bankruptcy

When iRobot filed for bankruptcy in December of last year, no one knew for sure that we would ever see a new Roomba launch. iRobot confirmed plans to return with a big announcement on July 7: New Roombas were released for the first time since iRobot gave ownership to its manufacturer, Picea.

Of the five new Roomba robot vacuums and the new Roomba wet cordless vacuum, many are available for purchase now. The rest will be ready to ship in the next few weeks. Here’s a quick breakdown of the 2026 list:

It pains me to say that it’s a pink Mini Roomba still It hasn’t entered the US yet. But let’s go through some of the big developments.

The Roomba Electro Plus is probably the most exciting addition to the family. This isn’t iRobot’s first foray into non-robot areas – the retired iRobot H1 handheld vacuum is buried deep in iRobot’s know-how. The Roomba Electro Plus has so many great features that it’s easy to forget. If it can resonate with consumers better than Dyson’s latest attempt to enter the robot vacuum space, it’s already a W in my book.

The first-of-its-kind wet dry vacuum mixes regular tap water to kill 99.99 percent of germs and bacteria without the use of chemicals. The roller mop can clean wet and dry dirt in the same pass, then wash itself while charging in the ThermaClean Dock. Priced at just $399.99, the Roomba Electro Plus feels more affordable compared to similar dry vacuums from Roborock, Mova, Tineco, and Dreme.

But as someone who tests new robot vacuums every single month, I had another question looming: Will any of these Roombas be good enough to make my list of the best robots of 2026?

A few important points were overlooked when I first wrote the press release. The good news first: These Roomba prices aren’t as deceptive as they were in the past.

Before the bankruptcy, most Roombas were too expensive for the basic things they could do – competing products offered the same cleaning and maintenance features for much less. iRobot and new owner Picea got the job done slowly.

The Roomba Max 775 and its heated mopping really stood out to me. At $999.99, the Roomba Max 775 may be the most affordable robot vacuum that makes the most of hot water while scrubbing. That was one of my favorite things about the Narwal 2 Flow, which costs $1,499.99.

In terms of suction power, these new Roombas are much better bang for your buck than previous Roombas. iRobot generally does not include suction power ratings in Pascals (Pa) for easy comparison with other robovacs. I was able to confirm the numbers with iRobot via email: The Roomba Plus 415 has 20,000 Pa, the Roomba Plus 515 has 25,000 Pa, the Roomba Plus 515 has 22,000 Pa, and the Roomba Max 775 and Max 715 come in at the hottest 30,000-strong robots on the market right now. 35,000 to 36,000 Pa is the suction power, so 30,000 Pa is still very dangerous.

BREAKFUT:

The best robot vacuums of 2026 so far: I’ve tested 10+ new models since January, but these 4 stand out.

With stats like that, the top two Roomba can easily earn a spot as one of the best robot vacuum and mop combos this year.

The big red flag is that only two of the new Roombas have PrecisionVision AI (iRobot’s version of minimal obstacle avoidance technology), and of course, the two models are more expensive. Both Roborock and Dreme have more than one robot vacuum in the $500 to $800 price range that can avoid obstacles like cords, socks, and pet waste. If iRobot really wants to change consumers’ minds about its value as a product, it can’t afford to maintain such a core feature in its premium models only.
