Man Utd could boycott Man City for Elliot Anderson
Manchester United have a “clear plan” and will not allow market forces or agents to decide their summer transfer plans, chief executive Omar Berrada has said.
Berrada hopes the club can go from strength to strength after a successful recruitment campaign last year, which saw the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens.
United are said to have already agreed a £35million fee with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson and more are expected to be added.
Berrada told the Inside Carrington podcast: “I think the pattern of what we did last summer will be repeated.
“We have a clear plan. I think what we saw last season is a good approach for us, that is we want a mix of experience and youth, we want a mix of players who have shown that they can play in the Premier League and maybe players who are doing very well outside the Premier League.
“But we will do it on our own terms, making sure that any decision we make is not only short-term, but long-term.
“We have to behave very well, it’s easy, we know what we can invest in and we have to stick to that.
“It’s very important not to let the market or the agents decide what we should be doing.”
United confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as their full-time manager last month.
The 44-year-old impressed after taking over on an interim basis following the sacking of Ruben Amorim in January, securing third place in the Premier League and Champions League.
Man Utd are preparing a bid to sign Liverpool’s £52m target after Ederson
United want to make more additions to their midfielders.
Berrada said: “I think he has earned the right to continue leading the team for the next two years and more.”
“I can describe him as someone who is calm but also driven and I am sure that he will do everything he can, he and his staff, to ensure that we have a successful team next season and the following year.
“I think if we look at the team and what we are trying to do in the next two years, he brings the right characteristics, the right ingredients, the character, the understanding of the club to help us go through the next steps of our journey.”
Man Utd ‘really like’ Elliot Anderson
United have already agreed their first signing of the summer, with Atalanta midfielder Ederson set to join to bolster Carrick’s options in the middle of the park.
The Red Devils are not stopping there though, with proposals that could bring three new players after the departure of Casemiro, and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that they are still ‘really interested’ in Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson.
Speaking in his latest YouTube video, the journalist said that rivals Manchester City have launched their first bid for the 23-year-old, while Forest rejected the offer and will demand more than £100m.
That could allow United to come in, as Romano reveals that they are still monitoring what is happening and have not thrown in the towel on the opportunity to hijack City’s interest.
Anderson is expected to play for England in the World Cup this summer as he has scored four goals and provided four assists in 38 Premier League games this season.
Man Utd are now preparing to sign the £80m Premier League star ahead of Arsenal
The Red Devils want to sign the “funny” striker.
