Leeds bring an update on Joe Rodon after he was injured in the defeat to Man City

After losing 1-0 against Manchester City, Leeds United received some frustrating injury news ahead of hosting Sunderland on Tuesday.

Farke was “disappointed” with the red card, Riemer said

Elland Road is one of the toughest places for any Premier League team these days. After a difficult start to the season, Daniel Farke’s mid-season system change transformed the Whites. Even that wasn’t enough to stand in the way of Antoine Semenyo, however, who gave Man City the edge in Yorkshire.

It looked like a relatively drama-free afternoon for either side until the full-time whistle signaled the start of Farke’s fury. Upset with the decision he saw minutes ago, the German confronted a group of officials and received a red card as a result.

Speaking after the game, Eddie Riemer – Farke’s assistant – told the media: “Maybe the explanation will be that (Farke) was in a bad mood, how he walked on the field, I would suggest.

“He was very disappointed with the red card and he would have liked the referee to take some reasonable action. Come on and give the yellow card. It’s an emotional game, and that.”

The Leeds boss will be hoping to move on quickly and turn his attention back to securing Premier League survival to complete a successful return to the top flight.

The former White had reserved special praise.

It’s not a matter of work done yet, though. The Whites still have 10 games to go over the line and remain six points clear of the dropzone, but they may have to cope without one player in Sunderland.

Rodon could miss out on Sunderland after picking up a hamstring injury

Joe Rodon could now miss Sunderland on Tuesday after picking up a hamstring injury, as confirmed by Riemer. The Welshman was forced to leave after 87 minutes and it seems that he has treated his team badly.

“I think it’s his muscle. We need to check him out; I hope it’s not too serious.”

With the Sunderland game just days away, Rodon now faces a race for a return. The centre-back has proved to be a key member of Farke’s squad over the years, too.

So far this season, Rodon has started all 26 Premier League games he has been in – missing just two through injury. To say you will be a big miss is an understatement.

It’s no surprise, given his availability, that the Leeds star received such high praise from Joe Hart earlier this season. The former Man City goalkeeper said: “(Rodon) scored well in the first minutes.

“He’s a hero, he hasn’t missed a game for two years. That’s exactly what you want from your centre-half. To get that hit twice in a row, that’s when you go out and talk to your physios. Can you play? Yes, give me a minute.”
