UN Ambassador Danny Danon vows revenge after Hezbollah kills 5 soldiers
Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon has rejected an unsealed intelligence report that says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is prolonging military operations for political survival, pointing to the tragic deaths of five Israeli soldiers to prove that continued operations are a logical necessity to destroy Iran’s base in Lebanon.

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations warned on Sunday that Iran’s continued efforts to influence Lebanon through Hezbollah is a “warning sign” of wider diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, vowing that Israel will not remain “sit-back” in the face of attacks by the Iran-backed terrorist group.
“It shows us that Iran, in fact, still has an interest in the region, still wants to control Lebanon and be a threat to Israel,” Danny Danon told Fox News Sunday.
Danon said Iran’s continued involvement in Lebanon raises questions about Tehran’s intentions as negotiations continue, saying the regime wants to maintain power through proxies despite ongoing talks aimed at reducing tensions in the region.

“We continue to talk with the government of Lebanon. And, at the same time, if we are going to be attacked by Hezbollah, the proxy of Iran, we will have to retaliate. We will not be like the ducks that sit waiting for Hezbollah to shoot our citizens, our citizens. We will defend ourselves,” he said.
Danon expressed his hope that the Lebanese government would have the courage to take action against the Iranian delegation, and accused Iran of trying to “destroy” the ongoing Israeli-Lebanon talks.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog told Fox News on Sunday that any diplomatic solution must include the disarmament of Hezbollah, calling it “the most strategic and strategic debate going on in Lebanon these days.”
Danon thanked American officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, for mediating talks between Israel and Lebanon, adding that Israel’s goal is to see the Lebanese government and army free from Iranian proxies.
