Google Releases New Gemini 3 Models, 3.5 Pro Not Available Yet

Google released three versions of AI on Tuesday, all built on Gemini 3.5 Flash. The new models are more efficient, faster and more reliable across the board. The tech giant has also given an update on the much-awaited Gemini 3.5 Pro and what’s to come.

A new AI model from the likes of Google, Anthropic or OpenAI is released seemingly every week, and the latest.ChatGPT-5.6, released earlier this month. Google’s latest releases aren’t flagship models compared to what’s around the corner, but each has its place, including a new model focused solely on Internet security.

Here’s what’s new in the latest Gemini models from today’s announcement.

Gemini 3.6 Flash

Google called Flash 3.6 its “workhorse” model that is now better at coding, information processing and multitasking. It also promises a reduced token consumption of up to 17%, and a lower cost per token compared to its predecessor, 3.5.

Google says it built the model based on both developer and customer feedback. A series of benchmarks show Flash gains of 3.6 in performance and average tokens per transaction compared to its predecessor.

Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite

Google’s fastest and least expensive model can deliver 350 output tokens per second and “significantly” surpasses previous generations when it comes to agency workflow, according to the blog.

As with 3.6 Flash, this model now supports the use of the computer as a built-in tool to take over many agency tasks.

Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber

3.5 Flash Cyber is a specialized model that prioritizes cybersecurity workflows to detect and remediate vulnerabilities. It works with an infrastructure agent called CodeMender to help cybersecurity teams identify and fix problems quickly.

According to a separate article from Google DeepMind, the new model already finds and fixes bugs in Google’s internal code in Android, Chrome and YouTube. This model will initially be limited to governments and trusted partners, but access will expand in the future.

The Gemini 3.5 Pro is still on the way

While the three latest models were the focus of Tuesday’s announcements, Google gave a brief update on its upcoming AI model, the Gemini 3.5 Pro. This model is said to be currently in testing with our partners, and plans to implement it when it is ready. How long that will take is anyone’s guess, but Google is already looking ahead to the next generation of AI, too.

Google says it has already started training for Gemini 4, which will be released at an undetermined date.

Both Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.5 Flash-Lite are available starting today for Gemini API developers with Google AI Studio and Android Studio and the Gemini app. 3.6 Flash is also available for Google Antigravity, and Flash-Lite 3.5 is being released for Google Search.
