Dan Vladar Is Eligible for an Extension, and Auston Matthews’ Potential Residences

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar is on a contract extension eligible for this offseason, plus
Anthony Di Marco of the Daily Faceoff: Philadelphia Flyers goalkeeper Dan Vladar said during his exit that he is ready to sign a contract extension with the Flyers this offseason. The 28-year-old has one year left on his $3.35 million contract.
If the number makes sense, the source said the Flyers would be open to a contract extension.
Recent comparables are Thatcher Demko (three years at $8.5 million), Lukas Dostal (five years at $6.5 million), Filip Gustavsson (five years at $6.8 million), and Anthony Stolarz (four years at $3.75 million). Gustavsson’s age and numbers last year might be the best comp.
A source said the Flyers might be OK with the five-year deal, but not for Gustavsson’s $6.8 million. They will look for something under $6 million. If Vladar wants a maximum cap hit of around $7 million, it will have to be in the three-year range.
LA Kings Decisions, and Free Agent Targets for Each Team
Sources aren’t sure where the Flyers will go with Samuel Ersson. If the Flyers want to bring in someone else, the Toronto Maple Leafs Joseph Woll could be a must. He played in 39 games last year with a .899 save percentage and has two years left at $3.66 million.
Five possible spots for Auston Matthews
Anthony Di Marco of the Daily Faceoff: Auston Matthews’ future with the Toronto Maple Leafs is unknown, as GM John Chayka and Matthews are still on the bench. He is two years into his marriage, and he may end up staying. However, speculation will continue. Here’s a look at five teams that would make sense to trade Auston Matthews.
5. San Jose Sharks – They have the assets to beat teams, as the Leafs need draft picks and young centers. They have the No. 2 pick in 2026, and drafted Michael Misa with their first-round pick last year. It will give the Sharks a one-two punch of Macklin Celebrini and Matthews.
4. Los Angeles Kings – Have a need for a No. 1 center following Anze Kopitar’s retirement. Negotiations would begin with Quinton Byfield and Brandt Clarke.
3. Philadelphia Flyers – No one needs a top line center more than the Flyers. Matvei Michkov may get Chayka’s attention. The Flyers own the Maple Leafs’ first-round pick in 2027 or 2028. How important are the leaves of Michkov and their origin?
2. Utah Mammoth – Have trades in Barrett Hayton, Caleb Desnoyers, Tij Iginla, and Cole Beaudoin. Clayton Keller is like Mitch Marner, and Matthews and Keller are friends.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Their Coaching Search
1. Minnesota Wild – The Wild need a center and will be aggressive in trying to find one. It has young centers in Charlie Stramel and Danila Yurov, along with their 2027 and 2028 first-round picks.
