The Carolina Hurricanes hit the jackpot in Las Vegas.
For the first time in two decades, the Canes are bringing the Stanley Cup to Raleigh after defeating the Vegas Golden Knights, 3-0, in Game 6 on Sunday night.
It took just over three minutes for the Hurricanes to drown out the frenzied Vegas crowd, as former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall scored the go-ahead goal.

The offense was slow for a long time, but less than seven minutes into the second, it was Jackson Blake who gave the Canes a 2-0 lead. Vegas didn’t do much in the second half, recording only three shots on goal.
This series was a strange one for the forwards, but those were on the side of the Golden Knights. This Carolina team wasn’t letting anything go, and proved it by killing Vegas’ key play midway through the third.
Vegas pulled Carter Hart with about three minutes to go, officially going into desperation mode, but to no avail, and Nikolaj Ehlers scored an empty netter to get the party started. Rookie goalkeeper Brandon Bussi continued to stand on the head and save the vault.
One of those highlights was a 4-0 lead in Game 3 that Vegas let go with a double overtime goal. Another, however, may be the difference in this series.

Bussi, who played in less than half of the Canes’ regular-season games, didn’t see the ice in the playoffs until he replaced Frederik Andersen in Game 3. In the biggest game of his career, he stepped up.
In Game 2, the Golden Knights trailed 2-0 with 10 minutes left in the third period, but Carolina scored three goals to take the lead. Vegas tied to force overtime, but overtime didn’t go their way.
Rod Brind-Amour became the 14th person to win the Stanley Cup as a player and head coach (not including player coaches), and the first to do so since Larry Robinson in 2000 with the New Jersey Devils.
He is also the seventh person to win the trophy coaching a team he won with as a player. No one had done that since Toe Blake did it with the Montreal Canadiens 70 years ago.

A long-awaited breakthrough for the Hurricanes, who made the playoffs for the eighth straight season after missing out on the past nine. During this time, they had lost in three conference finals and three semifinals, despite always being a regular winner.
However, this time, they finally fought for Lord Stanley and did everything they could to snatch it away.
