Chelsea are now front-runners to sign the £80m Premier League star behind Rogers
Chelsea are now among the frontrunners to sign Alex Scott, following a major update on his future at AFC Bournemouth.
Given the uncertainty over Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge, the Blues are keen to sign a new midfielder, and Scott has been tested in the Premier League, having made 80 appearances for Bournemouth.
Even during his time with Bristol City, the Englishman managed to catch the eye of Pep Guardiola, with the former Manchester City boss describing him as “unbelievable” after his side’s 3-0 FA Cup victory at Ashton Gate.
Since then, the 22-year-old has established himself as a key player for Bournemouth, averaging 12.2 saves per 90 in the Premier League last season, the highest figure for Andoni Iraola’s side.
The Guernsey-born player is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2028, but it has now been revealed that he may not be willing to extend his stay.

According to Sky Sports, Scott has rejected a new Bournemouth contract, amid strong interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Three Premier League clubs are leading the race for the central midfielder, but his current employers are not planning to cash in this summer, even if he signs a new deal.
The deal could be expensive, with reports suggesting the Cherries could pay in excess of £80m.

Manuel Ugarte is also expected to be sidelined for a long time after injuring his knee in the World Cup. Scott is not the only English midfielder Chelsea are eyeing, with Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton also interested, and new manager Xabi Alonso is said to be a big fan. The Blues will also sign England’s World Cup star, Morgan Rogers, who has passed his test.
