Celtic are now tempted to make a summer move for Bodo/Glimt star Kasper Hogh

Celtic are now being tempted to make a move to sign the “best star” in the Champions League in the transfer window, which could be a problem for Southampton.

The Hoops are keen to sign new players this summer

With the Hoops failing to reach their usual highs this season, currently sitting six points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts, it is becoming increasingly clear that they will need to strengthen their squad this summer.

Bringing in a new player looks to be high on the agenda, with the Scottish giants now leading the race to sign Plymouth Argyle duo Bim Pipple and Lorent Tolaj in a potential two-way deal.

Tolaj in particular could be an exciting signing, with the Swiss striker showing signs of improvement year-on-year over the past three seasons, proving himself in the National League with Aldershot in 2023-24, before moving on to League Two with Port Vale and League One with Plymouth.

However, if you think the 24-year-old is yet to prove himself beyond the third tier of English football, it would be a risk for Martin O’Neill’s side to bring him in this summer, with the established striker on the shortlist.

According to a report from Sports Boom, Celtic are now being tempted to make a move for Bodo/Glimt star Kasper Hogh, should he decide to force his way out of the Norwegian club in the summer transfer window.

The Hoops’ interest could spell trouble for Southampton’s rivals, with European football likely to be found at Parkhead next season, with the Saints currently four points adrift of the Championship play-off places.

Norwich City have also been named as potential suitors for the centre-forward, who has dominated the Champions League this season…

Hogh plays a major role in Bodo/Glimt’s fairy tale

Bodo/Glimt have been one of the most impressive packages in the Champions League this season, recently securing a place in the round of 16 with an aggregate victory over Italian giants Inter Milan, and Hogh has been key to their success.

The 25-year-old grabbed a goal and two assists in a 3-1 win against Inter in the first leg, while he also scored in the Norwegian side’s 3-1 win against Manchester City back in January.

Former midfielder Frode Thomassen described the Dane as Bodo/Glimt’s “leading star”, and he chipped in with an impressive 17 goals and six assists in 28 Eliteserien games last season.

Hogh could be a statement signing for Celtic, given the quality of his performances in the Champions League this season, but it would not be a surprise if the Premier League giants also came calling, while Plymouth duo Pipple and Tolaj could be logical transfer targets.
