Arsenal planning summer move to sign Michael Kayode; he can replace White

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have now shifted their focus to signing Ben White instead of adding another set-piece specialist this summer.

Ben White could leave Arsenal this summer

It has been a stressful time for Ben White at Arsenal. With the arrival of new faces, his injury problems have worsened and he now finds himself behind Jurrien Timber and possibly Cristhian Mosquera in the squad.

If Arsenal retain the Premier League title this season, it would be the perfect time for the right-back to make a quick switch amid reported interest from Everton.

Arteta’s most expensive defender is now gone at Arsenal

For all of Arsenal’s defensive success, Mikel Arteta must look to sell the struggling defender this summer.

Originally costing around £50m, White remains the most expensive defender to join the Gunners under Arteta and has proved worth the price despite recent problems.

As questions continue to arise over his future, the former Brighton man is likely to focus on his return from injury. Whether that comes as soon as this weekend against Chelsea remains to be seen, though.

Previewing the all-important London derby earlier this week, Arteta told reporters: “What we did two weeks ago or two years ago is not important, because every game and situation is different. Players can change, teams can be in a different situation or what is at stake is different, and we are prepared.

“When you finish like this, you only want to be in the front. That’s the goal. Always be better, try to exceed the team’s chances.”

Although the Gunners have finally defended the Premier League title this season, however, there is no rest for the underdogs. Andrea Berta is already thinking about summer reinforcements, including replacing White.

Arsenal are plotting a move for Michael Kayode

Those in North London already have one specialist in Declan Rice and could now welcome another. According to Caught Offside’s Daily Briefing, Arsenal are planning a move to sign Michael Kayode from Brentford to replace White this summer.

The 21-year-old is well-known in the Premier League for his long-range passes, which travel far enough to pose a corner threat – a situation in which Arsenal thrive.

Add a long-range specialist to Arsenal’s ranks and they are likely to be even better, as they have already dominated in that area so far this season.

Brentford won’t be too keen on losing the full back anytime soon. Jacek Kulig is known to be “very good” in 2023, the Italian has improved every season in West London and the interest of the Premier League champions should not surprise us.

In just 21 years, the only way is over. Whether that improvement happens at Arsenal this summer is the big, unanswered question.
