Arsenal are looking to double the number of Newcastle stars as Bruno was transferred to Man United

Newcastle are facing huge interest in their star players this summer, with reliable Mark Douglas sharing an update.

Newcastle will be out of the Champions League after the embarrassment of Barcelona

The Champions League dream is over.

Barcelona played their first game of the season at Camp Nou last night, thrashing Newcastle 7-2 to go 8-3 on aggregate. It was an underwhelming night for Eddie Howe’s side after a first half that briefly suggested a potential upset was on the cards.

Anthony Elanga, of all people, had saved Newcastle with two well-placed goals during the opening break with 45 minutes swinging back and forth.

At 2-2, the tie was alive.

Then Lamine Yamal scored a penalty in the dying moments of the first half and Barcelona never looked back. Raphinha, Fermin Lopez and Robert Lewandowski – twice – completed a strong second-half upset. Four unanswered goals. Newcastle were full of energy.

It was a cruel end to a campaign that had given the Tyneside side much to be proud of.

Reaching the Last 16 of the Champions League was a real achievement for a club that had been fighting for survival.

The Toon star recently had his worst game in a Newcastle vs Barcelona shirt

Newcastle United were humiliated 7-2 by Barcelona in their second game, with the Magpies star having his worst game so far under Eddie Howe.

Howe built something real at St James’ Park. But the exit, combined with a league campaign that saw them fail to finish in the top four, means next summer could be the most turbulent since the Saudi takeover.

Because vultures are circling – and they are very aggressive in red.

Arsenal are keen to swoop for Newcastle this summer, with multiple outlets now confirming that the Gunners have been tracking Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento.

Sandro Tonali from Newcastle

Arsenal are eyeing Livramento as a top target at right-back, with Ben White’s ongoing injury problems prompting Mikel Arteta to find a long-term solution.

The 23-year-old, who is under contract at Newcastle until 2028, is worth more than £60million – but that fee could rise given his form this season.

Tonali, meanwhile, is wanted as midfield depth, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the Italian, with Man City and Man United also circling the former AC Milan star.

Reports also emerged this week that Man United were in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Bruno Guimaraes, but the Mark Douglas faithful has shared an update on all three of the developing news.

Arsenal double-eye Newcastle swoop as Mark Douglas shares Bruno update

Douglas says Arteta’s side really like both Tonali and Livramento who are coming in in the summer window.

Tonali is wanted by a number of clubs – City and United are among those interested in the Italian – and the lack of progress in Livramento’s contract talks means the 23-year-old could be available.

Tino Livramento from Newcastle

The good news, for the Geordies at least, is that multiple Newcastle sources have told Paper One and Douglas that the speculation that Guimaraes is set to leave for United has come as news to them.

Guimaraes was indeed in Spain – not to engineer an exit, but to personally support his teammates as they strengthen their recovery from injury. There are no advanced conversations. There is no walking nearby.

But with Champions League football gone for another season, and Arsenal, City and United all sniffing around for their best players, Newcastle know the summer battle to keep the club has begun.
