Arsenal are lining up plans to sign the pair for £200 million

Last summer Andrea Berta spent the better part of £250m getting this Arsenal team ready to win the Premier League title.
That’s enough. The Gunners needed to win now and most of their players have signed with a view to doing so. Instead of landing a project striker in Bejamin Sesko, they got a proven goal machine in the form of Viktor Gyokeres.
Likewise, Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi have both been performing incredibly well for Crystal Palace and Real Sociedad for years.
Well, it would seem that they are not ready to withdraw from the search for players who have already been confirmed. Berta is ready to smash the exchange window in the park again.
Arsenal are chasing a big money forward this summer
Last year, Berta’s main task was to bring a new striker to the Emirates Stadium and he did so by luring Gyokeres away from Portugal’s Sporting CP.
The Swede proved himself to be one of the most dangerous strikers in the whole of Europe during his time in Lisbon, finishing the last campaign with 54 goals in 52 games.
While it may not have all worked out for the former Coventry City player since his return to England, he has been an underrated figure. Gyokeres has 21 goals to his name in all competitions. He will end the campaign to win the Premier League title and the Champions League winning season as the top goalscorer. No one in the world can criticize him for his ability in front of goal.
That, however, does not mean that Arsenal’s recruitment team should rest when the next window opens.

Arsenal’s most expensive signing of all time
The Gunners have spent a lot of money in recent years.
According to TEAMtalk, they are planning big moves for the top two big-money players. The first of them is Morgan Rogers.
Reports from the past few days have suggested that preliminary talks have been held with the player’s camp and now new claims indicate that Arsenal have ‘increased their interest’ in the Aston Villa star.
The Premier League champions are said to be ‘very fond’ of the England player, with Berta and Mikel Arteta agreeing that he is someone the Gunners should try to sign.
Rogers isn’t the only big name on their radar with Julian Alvarez’s name playing again. The same report states that any move for the Villa striker will not affect their plans to sign Alvarez.
The Argentinian has been heavily targeted since the end of the season as Arsenal are said to be willing to meet Atletico Madrid’s £100m price tag. Coincidentally, that’s the same amount it would take to prize Rogers away from Villa Park.
Why Rogers and Alvarez could be the new Ozil and Sanchez
Partnership. They often make or break a team. A few years ago, Arsenal relied on the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis to pull them out of the hole. The team certainly looked broken at the time. Now, in a title-winning team, Gabriel and William Saliba have become one of the best defensive pairings ever seen in the history of the Premier League.
In the forward line, in fact, we have not seen a dominant attacking combination like a certain Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Their time in north London both ended in conflict. Sanchez is headed to Manchester United, a move he admits he regrets when Ozil eventually left the Gunners after his energy and interest began to wane. His body language did not look good on the pitch.
However, no one can doubt their overall performance levels. These are two of the best players of the Emirates era and with the signing of both Rogers and Alvarez, they can replace them.
In Ozil’s case, they had one of the best, if not the best number 10 of the modern era. After leaving Real Madrid after a string of assists, he never slowed down when it came to English football. Back in 2015/16, he registered 19 assists. Only Thierry Henry with 20 has scored more in a single season for Arsenal.
Rogers is cut from a slightly different cloth. He is improving and dangerous with his play and can play outside. However, like Ozil, he is a brilliant creator of chances. In 2024/25, the England star provided 16 assists in all competitions.

Playing the 10 spot for Arsenal, there are many reasons to believe that Arteta can protect the club’s best midfielder since the days of Ozil. Sure, captain Martin Odegaard can open up defenses in the same way, but he’s prone to injuries and his numbers are down.
In the case of Sanchez, there are striking similarities between him and Alvarez. Mainly, that is the ability to create goals and score in a balanced way.
You could argue that neither forward nor outside player, they are false 9 profiles and as such, they are more stuck in formation than the old striker.
While Alvarez scored goals for Atleti, scoring 29 in 2024/25 and 20 in 2025/26, he is nothing short of ruthless in front of goal. Indeed, in his last spell with Manchester City in 2023/24, the Argentinian registered 13 assists.
In that he was cut from the same outfit as Chile’s Arsenal. His best season in the English capital, 2016/17, saw him score an incredible 30 goals and assist 15. These were the kind of numbers for Henry from someone who was not only a top scorer but also a top chance creator.
While signing both players sounds highly unlikely this summer, just imagine if Berta could get their hands on both. Arteta could put together the club’s most dangerous attack since the days of Ozil and Sanchez.

Better signing than Rogers: Arsenal eyeing move for £26m England star
Morgan Rogers is not the only England player linked with Arsenal this summer.
