A deal for Tottenham to swap the “underdog” star is on the cards after Hull City’s bid failed

Tottenham could secure a swap deal for Napoli star Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, which will thwart Premier League newcomers Hull City.

Milinkovic-Savic has taken one of the longest routes imaginable to become one of the most respected goalkeepers in Europe.

The Serbian was once on the books at Man United as a teenager, only for work permit issues to end his spell before it really began.

Instead of letting that setback define him, he rebuilt his career in Italy, gradually developing into a commanding presence between posts and Torino.

Standing over six meters tall, Milinkovic-Savic dominates his penalty area. He is excellent at dealing with crosses, rarely intimidates players and has established himself as one of Serie A’s leading penalty experts.

Those qualities have helped him establish himself as Torino’s first-choice goalkeeper and Serbia’s first-choice goalkeeper, with the Italian describing him as a “slightly undersized” stopper.

Guglielmo Vicario has been heavily linked with a return to Italy this summer, while Milinkovic-Savic will provide experienced cover while raising the bar during a difficult season.

The big question is whether Milkovic-Savic would be willing to come in as anything other than the first-choice goalkeeper, potentially pushing Antonin Kinsky back into the second spot.

Tottenham also need to consider whether strengthening other positions, such as wide, should remain a priority before investing heavily in another top goalkeeper.

Tottenham could strike a deal for Milinkovic-Savic and Vicario

In accordance with Corriere dello SportTottenham could still find a solution if they decide to pursue Milkovic-Savic.

The Italian newspaper, forwarded by Sport Witness, says that it is possible that a transfer agreement involving Vicario is in place because the valuation of the players involved is considered to be very close.

While the report does not suggest talks have progressed, it says such an exchange could benefit both clubs if formal talks take place.

Meanwhile, they suggest that Hull City already have a rejected offer for the player, while Leeds’ interest will largely depend on Zion Susuki’s situation.

Exchange deals are notoriously difficult to close.

Both clubs have to agree on different player ratings, contract terms and game plans, meaning that even the most promising ideas often fail before reaching the finish line.

Still, it makes sense to suggest.

Tottenham have already rebuilt large parts of their squad this summer and continue to look for players who can improve the competition for places quickly.

Torino, on the other hand, could find a player that best suits their needs while avoiding lengthy negotiations involving multiple clubs.

If this opportunity is available on favorable financial terms, Tottenham should at least explore it. Experienced goalkeepers are hard to come by, and Milinkovic-Savic has been showing that he is at a high level.
