Baseus Bowie MC2 in-ear earbuds: I’m obsessed with these budget components

The open-ear earbuds market is one of the fastest-growing audio segments for 2026, and a new budget competitor has just entered the space.

Meet the Baseus Bowie MC2 earbuds, officially available starting June 1. Priced at $79.99, they are some of the most affordable open-back models on the market. (Read on to learn about their discounted introductory price.)

Despite their low price point, Baseus wants to combine strong sound quality, innovative comfort, and the best battery life with earbud options at more than three times the price of the MC2s. So how do they stack up? While I don’t have a full review yet, I’ve spent a few days with the earbuds on and have some initial thoughts.

Baseus Bowie MC2: Price and Specifications

As mentioned above, the Baseus Bowie MC2 earbuds are now available for $79.99, with a special introductory price of $49.99 when you use the coupon code. MC2OWSPR on the way out. For the price, these earbuds come loaded with:

Baseus Bowie MC2: First impressions

For many people, the appeal of open-back earbuds comes from what they can offer you while you’re out and about in the world. The awareness provided by the earbuds is generally better than any transparency mode you’ll find in regular earbuds, giving the user the ability to listen to music in the park or go for a run in your city without feeling completely shut out from the world around you.

With that in mind, the Bowie MC2 earbuds make a strong case for themselves on several fronts.

Impressive battery life

If I can listen to music while being aware of the world, I’m more likely to keep my earbuds in and work most of the day. Baseus accounts for this in its battery life, providing an impressive 13 hours per charge, or 11.5 with Bass Boost on. From my experience​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ from my experience, Bass Boost is very important for getting the best sound quality, even if you are a non-bass head. Otherwise, the music can sound very distant.

To put things into perspective, the only other open earbuds I’ve come across with similar battery life are the Shokz OpenFit Pro, which get 12 hours on a charge and 50 hours on a case. And they are $250.

Interchangeable ear covers for enhanced comfort

Most of the time with budget earbuds, I don’t expect a ton of innovation, but with the Bowie MC2, Baseus introduced a feature I’ve never seen in open earbuds – interchangeable earbuds, the brand calls CloudComfort 2.0 cushions.

Soft silicone covers there is comfortable, but the size is limited. The earbuds will be set in medium size, but you will find large and extra large covers in the box. I tried the bigger ones because out of the box, the earbuds sounded great he is young a little more comfortable compared to other cuff-style earbuds I’ve tried. However, I found the larger cover equals less protection.

I expect this may be due to the size of the ear band, which is also larger than I have experienced with other earbuds. I think this is in service of providing a comfortable fit, but I’ve never found small bands to be too tight before. In my testing, I’ll be looking at how this loose fit works in a workout situation – although I hope it works well, as the IP67 rating would make these earbuds great earbuds for workouts.

Their budget earbud competition

At $79.99 (plus $50 on sale), these earbuds offer excellent value, especially in an area where many of the most popular earbuds from major audio companies can set you back $200 or more.

The only real competition I see are the EarFun Clip earbuds, which cost $69.99 full price and are often on sale for under $50. Similar to the Baseus earbuds, they have LDAC support, Bluetooth 6.0, and are just behind the Baseus buds in terms of battery life, offering 10 hours per charge and 40 hours in a case.
