New York Knicks small forward Josh Hart was shooting on the floor and in his press conference on Thursday.

Hart, who scored a playoff-high 26 points in the Knicks’ 109-93 Game 2 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals at Madison Square Garden, was asked about the stats and had a sweet answer.

“I’m not a big analytics guy. At a certain point, they’re a beacon. You can lean on them, but they’re not going to bring you home,” Hart told reporters.

“At some point, you have to have a good feeling about the game.”

Hart’s laugh made the reporters laugh. Karl-Anthony Towns, who was on stage with him, took off his glasses and looked at his colleague with a confused expression.

“Oh my god, bruh,” Towns said.

Hart then called the quote to his former Villanova coach and used his full name in doing so.

“I’m not going to lie that’s Jerold Wright, his words. Shoutout Jay Wright.”

Towns then called off the press conference, not wanting to let Hart off the hook to make the analogy.

“Hang on, hold on, we’re not moving away from that,” Towns said.

“That’s a great quote,” Hart replied.

He then explained this saying to Makahuni.

“I was with (Coach John Calipari at Kentucky), so I didn’t hear that,” Towns said.

“You haven’t even been to college,” Hart joked back to the City, who laughed.

In the Knicks’ Game 1 comeback, Hart struggled with his shooting. He had 13 points and made just one of his five 3s.

Head coach Mike Brown replaced Hart with Landry Shamet, who helped spark the Knicks’ fourth-quarter rally. In Game 2, the Cavaliers backed off on Hart, daring him to shoot three-point attempts.

Unlike Game 1, Hart hit 11 3-pointers and led the team in scoring. The game plan for the Cavaliers defensively was to make Hart beat them, and that’s exactly what he did. Although he may not have used statistics to help his shooting conversion.

Hart will look to stay hot when the Knicks face the Cavaliers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday at 8 pm ET, hoping to take a 3-0 series lead.
