Olympic bobsled legend Kaillie Humphries is a tax-paying Californian, and she’s not happy with the response of Gov. Gavin Newsom on recent allegations of fraud in the state, especially as the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics approaches.
Newsom came under fire Tuesday night after his press office released a response to independent reporter Nick Shirley’s investigation into alleged fraud in California.
The post included an AI image showing Shirley covered in cameras with a speech bubble saying, “Hey, can I see your kids?”

Humphries told Fox News Digital his reaction, raising concerns about the potential impact on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“As a citizen of California, I am very concerned about the reports of alleged financial fraud and Governor Newsom’s indifference to it. Besides the fact that any financial fraud is wrong, the fact that this is alleged to have happened in the state that is intended to host the 2028 Olympics is even more concerning. The Olympics is a multi-billion dollar event to be sure that the support of the government rightly requires the support of the government.
“Olympic host cities around the world have been plagued by financial fraud for hosting the Olympics for years. America is not immune to these problems as the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics were marred by a bribery scandal.
“Before America hosts the Olympics in LA on the 28th, California and its leadership, including Governor Newsom, need to address these serious allegations and ensure that all American taxpayer dollars spent on the Olympics are properly accounted for.”
Newsom’s office provided a statement in response to Fox News Digital’s request for a response to Humphries.
“Our office does not usually respond to the opinions of people who are not directly involved or who do not know anything about the issue at hand,” said the statement. “Under Governor Newsom’s leadership, California is leading the nation in PREVENTING fraud, waste and abuse – protecting billions of dollars that go to families, students, seniors and communities,” the spokesperson said, adding a link to a state website said to be dedicated to stopping fraud.

Humphries moved to San Diego, legally immigrating from Canada in a process that took the late 2010s to the early 2020s. She went from Team Canada to Team USA, becoming the only women’s bobsledder to win gold medals on both teams, while enduring a strict immigration process.
Now, she’s a new mom in San Diego with her husband Travis, navigating the challenges of the state.
Humphries revealed that he is a Republican and a proud supporter of President Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News Digital shortly after winning bronze at the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina. He spoke out in support of Trump’s goals to protect women’s sports, immigration law, making IVF more accessible, and even defended the US men’s hockey team for meeting Trump after a left-wing backlash.
Humphries then became the first US Olympian to present a president with the Order of Ikkos when he presented it to Trump at a Women’s History Month ceremony at the White House last week.
He said he received criticism after expressing his support for Trump in his first interview with Fox News Digital.
“I’ve had other people disagree with my views and make them more popular,” Humphries said earlier.

“Being called a lot of names. You’re being called every name and name under the sun that’s humanly possible … and, at the end of the day, politics can be very emotional for people, and I understand that. And everyone’s entitled to their beliefs and what they stand for.
“That’s their opinion, and I don’t have to like it or agree with it. I wish it was different, but that’s how it works.”
