Bomani Jones becomes latest commentator to criticize Jaxson Dart for introducing Donald Trump: ‘disgraceful’

Surprisingly, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has become the talk of the 2026 NFL offseason. Especially among commentators or members of the media who have a certain political affiliation that strongly affects their feelings about certain athletes.

Dart introduced President Donald Trump at a recent rally, giving a short, not-so-impressive speech. And in doing so, it stoked a firestorm of criticism. It’s a rare criticism leveled at athletes who speak for left-wing politicians.

For example, former player and current NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho said it was “stupid” for Dart to introduce Trump. It is impossible to believe that Dart would receive the same criticism if he introduced Barack Obama, Joe Biden, or Kamala Harris.

Well, add former ESPN commentator Bomani Jones to the list of commentators who have come in to criticize Dart while ignoring other athletes’ political endorsements.

“This idea that we don’t care about the politics of athletes…yes, we do,” Jones said on the latest episode of his “The Right Time with Bomani Jones” show. “Now, whether you care enough about politics that it affects whether you like your team or not, that’s a different situation and that’s a little tricky. Like, if you’re a Giants fan, are you going to stop rooting for the Giants because Jaxson Dart is Trump? Maybe not. But don’t tell me you don’t care.”

He went on to say that he doubted it would “crack” the Giants’ locker room, despite Abdul Carter’s comments.

“What struck me about this — and I want to be clear about this — is the whole ‘this is going to break the locker room’ thing. NFL locker rooms are wild, segregated, and full of white players who support Trump and black players who support Trump. Okay, that’s not a revolutionary rule. That’s not how the NFL works.”

But Jones then went after Dart, saying he was “embarrassing” other players and that “standing” with Trump was a serious crime compared to other politicians.

“…And this is what I say to Jaxson Dart: ‘Get rid of that monkey s—. You’re embarrassing us,'” Jones said. “And what I’m talking about is this, you guys in here, think of all the love those chains get when they come out here and do dances and all these things. I guarantee you there’s a few cats there who were like, ‘Oh, you’re cool.’

“I think it’s important to realize that Trump is not like any other politician. Like standing with Trump, people who have a problem with it are not just saying, ‘I don’t agree with your politics.’ Someone went up there and stood with Curtis Sliwa during the mayoral election…it won’t be a thing. This is very important for this particular man.”

That’s the problem. Left-wing commentators, like Bomani Jones, treat Trump as if he were an unimaginable evil. Then create rules about behavior based on their wrong ideas. Although we also ignore that the left has also compared Mitt Romney, a moderate Republican, to Hitler. Of course Dart will receive criticism from the sports media for introducing any right-wing politician, because the sports media is dominated by the political left and does not tolerate opposition.

Jones would never criticize Abdul Carter, to use an appropriate example, for joining Kamala Harris on stage. Because he supports Kamala Harris and considers her policies and positions to be reasonable and necessary. He refuses to accept that much of the United States feels the same way about Trump’s policies and positions. Dart must be punished, because Trump is no different. Although a year and a half ago, he won the popular vote and carried 31 of the 50 states.

Harris is no different from Jones, so he doesn’t break up. It’s predictable, funny, and absurd. In short, an excellent example of left-wing sports commentary.
