Amidst all the double-crossing and backstabbing, Cow Season 2 is loaded with cameos.

Michael Phelps
Michael Phelps’ cameo, which comes in episode 2 along with a few famous faces below, is actually very important to the show, as he inadvertently starts Josh (Oscar Isaac) on the path to embezzling money from the team. In the scene in question, Josh pours whiskey for wealthy gang member Troy (William Fichtner) and some famous friends while they’re playing cards.
Interrupted by their conversation, Josh hits a bottle, a penalty that apparently enters the cycle.
“Put your money in,” Phelps growled when Josh hesitated, only to quickly lose what must have been a large sum.
“What’s your Venmo?” Josh asks an Olympic swimmer and record-setting gold medalist.
“@MichaelPhelps,” came the reply.
“There’s a $5k limit,” Josh said.
“Back-to-back days are fine,” Phelps replied.
Wow people.

Benny Blanco and Baron Davis
Also on the scene are record producer Benny Blanco and NBA player-turned-TV host Baron Davis. This is part of a conversation with Troy where he talks about the “buy-borrow-die” loophole created by his accountant.
“I’m in a position to earn money,” said Blanco Troy. “Who is that tax boy?”
Davis, is the one who encourages Josh to join the card game. “The party is wrong!” she shouts as Josh spills the whiskey. “I saw that, Joshie! Now you have to play.”
Hot chip
In a fun sequence in episode 5, Troy takes Josh on a private jet to his bar, where Hot Chip happens to sing a few songs. “They were in town for a party,” Troy said. “I asked for a small favor.”
Josh, a would-be singer, is called on stage to perform “Furthermore” with them when he should really be back home helping Lindsay (Carey Mulligan) search for their lost dog — a nail-in-the-box decision for their relationship.
Suni Lee
In episode 6, Austin (Charles Melton) is thrown into the deep end in his new role as physical therapist at the club’s health center with the arrival of fitness trainer and Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee.
“Josh says he’s going to work with my team to get me ready for LA,” Lee said, before taking him back to the handstand and parting ways. “No one has been able to figure out why, but I feel a little pinch in my QL and psoas when I do this.”
Austin, who isn’t even a trained physical therapist, tries to figure out his way through interactions while growing nervous.
“He’s sweating like crazy,” Lee commented.
“Yeah,” Austin replied. “I run hot because of my high basal metabolic rate.”
Phineas O’Connell
Another unexpected turn of events occurs in episode 7, when Josh walks into the health center and finds Troy with singer Finneas O’Connell – who says it’s “about time” when he finds out Josh and Lindsay are divorcing.
“Oh man, Billie he hated it when she was buying Lindsay’s cycle,” Finneas says, referring to her sister Billie Eilish. “Even if she said something nice, it always sounded like a diss.”
A nice touch is Eilish’s “Bad Guy” playing in the background during the scene.
Cow Season 2 is streaming now on Netflix.
