Bryson DeChambeau had a chaotic first round of the Masters.

DeChambeau, 32, who shot 4 over on the day, hit a par with a tee shot on the sixth hole before later struggling to get out of the 11th hole, stepping out of the sand three times before running into a trap.

At the 180-yard, 3-pointer, DeChambeau pulled his shot to the left and hit the manager in the leg. The ball returned to the hole and ended up on the green.

DeChambeau covered his mouth with his hand when he saw the ball hit the patron. On his way to the green, he found a patron, gave him a golf ball and shook his hand.

DeChambeau, who was on par at the time, made an impressive recovery, chipping the ball to three feet from the hole despite being 24 yards out and saving par by making the next putt.

The Clovis, California, native stayed at par until the 11th hole, when he had trouble escaping the green bunker.

DeChambeau’s second shot was off the fairway, hitting down toward the green that was surrounded by a pond and bunker. DeChambeau stayed away from the pool, and his ball ended up rolling into the basement.

The LIV Golf star hit his first tee shot three feet, not even close to the mouth of the bunker. His second shot went nowhere, and he appeared to miss the ball completely.

DeChambeau finally escaped the bunker on his third attempt, hitting the ball over the edge of the sand before letting it roll 15 feet away. He ended up two-putting for triple bogey, bringing him to three over for the day.

His struggles continued on the 16th hole, where he made three bogeys to bring him to 4 over for the day. DeChambeau cleared a stroke with a birdie on the 17th hole after a big iron shot from the fairway left him eight feet from the hole.

However, DeChambeau bogeyed the 18th hole, finishing with a 4-over 76 for the day.

For DeChambeau, his start at the Masters was similar to last year, when he shot an opening-round 73. DeChambeau matched the second and third rounds, and entered the final round in a final tie with Rory McIlroy before shooting a 75 on Sunday to finish in a tie for fifth.

DeChambeau will look to turn things around on Friday, when he tees off at 1:20 pm ET.
