The family of a woman allegedly killed by her husband has retained a lawyer and is seeking information on the couple’s finances, including a life insurance policy that lists the defendant as the “first heir.”
Caleb Flynn, 39, a former “American Idol” contestant, has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his wife, Ashley Flynn, at the couple’s home in Tipp City, Ohio, on February 16. Police say Caleb Flynn “committed a crime scene,” and audio from 911 shows Ashley telling a housekeeper that someone shot Ashley.
Caleb Flynn has been charged with murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of tampering with evidence, but a Miami County coroner told Fox News Digital that prosecutors are considering other charges. He has pleaded not guilty, and his bond is set at $2 million.

Attorneys for Ashley Flynn’s family on Wednesday filed court documents requesting information about Caleb and Ashley Flynn’s finances. According to the court’s request, Caleb Flynn is listed as the “primary beneficiary” of the life insurance policy. Fox News Digital is not naming family members after the court’s request.

The court also requests information about spouses’ bank accounts, retirement accounts, homes, cars and other financial records. Ashley Flynn’s family said Caleb Flynn “has the motive, opportunity, and means to dispose of these assets, transfer them to other people, or place them out of the reach of children and property.”
Ashley Flynn’s family also asked the court to issue a temporary domestic violence protection order that would prevent Caleb Flynn from withdrawing money from the couple’s financial accounts beyond necessary living expenses.
If Caleb Flynn is convicted, under Ohio’s “Slayer Statute”, he will not be eligible to receive the life insurance proceeds listed as beneficiaries, and they will go to the children. The law also applies to estates under wills, trusts and certain other financial policies.
