Trump pays tribute to US service members killed in Middle East: ‘Superheroes’

President Donald Trump was seen on Wednesday greeting the flag-draped caskets of four US service members recently killed in Jordan and Iraq, as he attended a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
Trump was seen standing alongside Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth as they paid tribute to 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Sgt. Angel Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, who were killed in Jordan, and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, who was killed in Iraq.
Trump told reporters before the ceremony Wednesday that service members are “super heroes.”
“We’re going to honor them. And it’s one of the hardest things to do — for me, it’s one of the hardest things to do as president. But it has to be done,” Trump said.

“All I can say is we love you. We love your child,” Trump said when asked if he had a message for the families. “And they are like that to them. They are their children. No kidding, nothing. That’s their child. And all you could do is take your heart out.”
Feehan’s parents, Stephen and Shari, told KUTV on Tuesday that “No parent could have asked for a better son, and passing your story forward is now our goal.”
“To achieve that, we are creating a scholarship in his name – one that is meant to open the doors of education to those who serve or hope. We start with his death, and we welcome anyone who is motivated to donate,” they added.

US Central Command said over the weekend that members of the force were killed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan as CENTCOM and its partners “defended against Iranian ballistic and drone attacks.”
Swinton was killed when soldiers tried to destroy the plane that was attacked by Iran on Sunday at an air base in Iraq.
