Jon Ossoff says he needs more money while leading Senate fundraising

Sen. Jon Ossoff is warning supporters that his campaign is lagging behind and needs more money to keep its ads on the air, despite having the biggest campaigns in the country.

The Georgia Democrat has raised $68.7 million since 2025, slightly more than Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, the next-highest fundraiser, who brought in $65.9 million after launching his campaign in September 2025. Although he’s getting big donation deductions, Ossoff’s campaign has simultaneously told potential donors he needs to keep their donors in need of money to they continue to donate money.

In July alone, the Ossoff campaign — the most recent disclosures available show it has $42.6 million in cash — sent dozens of emails to supporters saying it urgently needed money to advance its campaign.

“$5 to keep us on the air,” the subject line of the July 2 email read, according to archived records.

“And the more donations we get right now, the more we can spread our lobbying message and get the voters we need to win big in November,” the body of the email read. “So I need your help – not just to keep this ad on the air, but to spread our message even further. Will you donate $5 or whatever you can afford to keep our ad on the air and defeat Trump’s puppet, Mike Collins?”

A campaign spokesperson told Fox News Digital when asked about the fundraiser that Ossoff is facing an incredible level of Republican spending because he is the only Democratic senator seeking re-election in a state President Donald Trump won in 2024.

“As the only Democratic senator up for re-election in a state Trump wins in 2024, Senator Ossoff is already facing millions of dollars in Republican spending against him, including the first $44 million from the leading Republican Super PAC and countless others from black Republican groups empowered by the recent Supreme Court decision allowing them to open unlimited debt summaries to Mike Collins,” the spokesperson said.

Google ad records show Ossoff is spending millions of dollars on messaging in states outside of Georgia — including presidential primary states like Iowa and South Carolina and swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. The behavior, unusual for Democrats in high-profile Senate races, fueled speculation that Ossoff might launch a 2028 presidential run.

In a June 18 email, Ossoff’s campaign told supporters that “it looks like we’re on track to miss our fundraising goals for the month.” The campaign made similar claims in April and March, according to archived emails.

Despite the complaints, the campaign later said it had “unstoppable grassroots momentum” after its fundraising numbers were released publicly.

“Jon Ossoff is misleading voters as he prepares to leave Georgia for a shot at the White House,” National Republican Senatorial Committee press secretary Bernadette Breslin told Fox News Digital. “But no amount of out-of-state ad spending can erase his failed record — from allowing Joe Biden to spend recklessly to supporting the open-border policies that allowed Laken Riley’s killer to walk free.”

Although Ossoff raised more than 10 times more than GOP Senate nominee Rep. Mike Collins this year, Republican national committees, like the NRSC, brought in far more money than their Democratic counterparts.

These national committees have pledged tens of millions of dollars to defeat Ossoff. Outside groups have spent more than $170 million against Ossoff and supporting his GOP challenger during the 2020 general election and 2021 run-off in Georgia, leaving some expecting a similarly expensive race in 2026.

A recent Supreme Court case gave political parties more freedom to coordinate their spending with certain individuals, which was seen as a victory for Republicans.

The fundraising emails reviewed by Fox News Digital for this story come from the Political Email Archive, a project run by the far-right Defending Democracy Together Institute.

Screenshots of fundraising documents from Ossoff’s campaign have also circulated on social media, drawing criticism from some given the significant financial resources already available.

“This mf Ossoff messaged me two days ago that he has no money,” one anonymous X user posted, in response to a screenshot showing the nearly $100 million he’s raised since 2021. The user then posted a screenshot of a text message he reportedly received from Ossoff’s campaign saying he was behind its fundraising goals.

“Jon you have a bajillion dollars what are you talking about,” the user texted back.

“He WAS RICH too,” another user replied, posting a photo of a different document that reportedly raised money from Ossoff’s campaign.

In addition to emails to supporters, the Ossoff campaign has also publicly complained that it needs more money.
