Aston Villa are also in talks to sign the £60m star alongside Alejandro Garnacho

Aston Villa have opened talks to sign both Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Jackson as they prepare for Morgan Rogers’ move to Chelsea.

Villa have signed João Gomes for £38m as they look to use Rogers’ money to give Unai Emery depth to compete in four competitions.

The Blues agreed a £117m deal for Rogers at the weekend, who will be assessed on Monday before completing a move to Stamford Bridge, and it will be important for the manager to strengthen his attacking options this summer.

So, the interest in Jackson makes a lot of sense, as Emery is known to be a big fan of the former Villarreal man, and he managed to impress on loan from Bayern Munich last season.

Understandably, the Senegal striker has lagged behind Ballon d’Or contender Harry Kane during his dominant campaign, but he has managed to score 11 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions, while also providing four assists.

However, it has been widely reported that Chelsea are willing to sanction a permanent move for €70m (£60m) this summer, which could open the door to a move to Villa, who will be set to raise capital by selling Rogers.

Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Garnacho is also attracting interest this summer, after just one season with the Blues, where he was limited to 1,268 minutes of game time in 24 Premier League appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists.

The Villans hope a ‘deal can be considered’ for the Senegal international, who worked under Emery at Villarreal, and the Spaniard remains a big fan.
