Volkswagen smart e-bike with rear camera and safety technology is introduced from N+

TL;DR: Volkswagen’s new eBike range starts at $3,999 and comes packed with the technology you’d expect from a car, including a rear camera, blind spot warnings, and smart lights that indicate braking and turning.
For years, e-bike makers have competed on common features: more power, longer range, and larger batteries. Volkswagen’s new licensed eBike range from N+ takes a different approach.
Instead of focusing on speed, it borrows the safety features you’d normally find in a modern car, including a rearview camera and radar-activated blind spot warnings. Starting at $3,999, the premium eBike range is now available for pre-order, with deliveries expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Display integrated into the handles
A big talking point is Smart View, a built-in rearview camera and radar system designed to help passengers stay aware of traffic behind them.
Instead of turning your head to check for oncoming traffic, the bike broadcasts a live rearview on a display integrated into the handlebars. At the same time, the radar monitors oncoming traffic from behind and can warn passengers of vehicles entering their blind spots. The goal is simple: help cyclists keep their eyes on the road ahead while being aware of what’s happening behind them.
Mashable Light Speed
Car-style lighting comes to the e-bike
The influence of Volkswagen cars is most evident in the bike’s lighting system.
A full-length LED light strip runs along the top tube, making the bike easy to see during the day. More importantly, it doesn’t just stay on – it also behaves like a car’s lighting system. The strip turns red when the rider brakes and amber when turning, which helps inform the rider’s intentions to drivers and other road users.

The eBike is designed to work with two connected accessories that increase its safety features.
The Smart Helmet connects to the bike over Bluetooth and displays its light, making riders even more visible. It also includes a built-in accelerometer that can detect crashes and send a text message to emergency contacts in the event of an accident.
Then there are the smart glasses, which act as a display that reveals the heads. Instead of sitting down at a screen, passengers can view navigation instructions, blind spot warnings, and ride information directly within their field of vision. According to N+, the display technology was developed by engineers who previously worked on pilot heads-up displays.
Pricing and pre-order details
The Sport eBike starts at $3,999, and the Crossover eBike starts at $4,349. Both are available for pre-order now, with deliveries expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 once certification is complete. Pre-order customers also receive the Smart View Package, normally priced at $699, at no additional cost.
The bike is currently listed in three frame sizes and is expected to launch through select partners and the company’s official online store.
