Man City are holding talks to sign “one of the stars in world football” in Maresca

Manchester City are looking to make a splash in the transfer market, as they look to secure their Premier League title next season.

Pep Guardiola failed to win the title in his last two seasons at the Etihad Stadium, and now it’s down to Enzo Maresca to turn Man City into champions again.

Speaking after returning to the Etihad Stadium, Maresca said: “It’s a big challenge, for many reasons. All the success of the last 10 to 15 years, but at the same time it’s a good challenge.

“It’s exciting because the goal is to continue or continue in the last decade or so in the past years when everything was so good.”

However, in order to reach those games, the Italian player will need support in this transfer window, and the England captain, Harry Kane, is being watched closely by City.

Man City hold talks to sign Harry Kane

As revealed by TEAMtalk, Man City are now holding talks to inform about Kane’s future at Bayern Munich, which is still in doubt, as there is one year left on his current contract.

Bayern are keen to tie down the England star on new terms, as you’d expect, and the German side remain confident of securing him, but if they can’t do that, City could be waiting in the wings to make a move.

Honesty

Man City already have Erling Haaland at striker, and trying to fit the Norwegian in the same team as Kane would be a tough ask, raising doubts about whether they will actually launch a move.

Finance

However, the opportunity to sign the former Tottenham Hotspur man on a free transfer next summer would be too good to turn down, if he is not willing to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.

Understanding

Former footballer Pat Nevin believes the striker is “one of the greats in world football”, and it’s hard to disagree, given that he scored a whopping 146 goals and 33 assists in 147 games for Bayern.

Impact

That said, signing a Bayern striker could make sense if Haaland leaves. A move for the Norwegian star is not out of the question, and Real Madrid are known to be keen.

Harry Kane is in a position to lead England to World Cup glory

Kane is two games away from becoming the first England captain to lift the World Cup abroad, and only the second in history, following Bobby Moore in 1966.

The 32-year-old has scored six goals in six games, and converted a penalty in the 3-2 round of 16 win over Mexico, giving the Three Lions more breathing room after going down to ten men.

The striker who won the Ballon d’Or, Maresca who was his dream when playing with Chelsea, has scored 85 goals for England and 213 in the Premier League, making him the second top scorer in the history of the top flight.

However, signing Kane does not make sense unless Man City choose to cash in on Haaland, unless Maresca switches to a two-striker system.
