Spin Around the NHL with the Latest Trade Rumors and Free Agent Rumors

Free agency is about to open, and there are plenty of trade rumors and free agent moves
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: The Toronto Maple Leafs will trade Zach Werenski. It will be interesting to see what the Tampa Bay Lightning have to offer.
- David Pagnotta: “Tampa Bay is still in talks here. Philly was also in the mix, but it looks like TB is Werenski’s top choice right now.”
- Pierre LeBrun: “I’ll reiterate that Tampa Bay and Toronto would be among the top teams I think Werenski would be willing to trade with. But whether those teams would satisfy CBJ’s trade requirements remains to be seen.”
You don’t see how Connor Hellebuyck’s contract fits Sunny Mehta’s profile. The Buffalo Sabers trade may not have been as close as we thought.
The Dallas Stars and Jason Robertson could go to arbitration. Stars do not move. Will Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman decide that Robertson is his best option over Dylan Larkin.
NHL rumors: Laughton, Carlson, Hellebuyck, Perron, and Larkin
The Edmonton Oilers were interested in Sergei Bobrovsky. The Toronto Maple Leafs may be ahead. His final offer to the Panthers could be three years at $7 million.
- James Myrtle: “If the Leafs sign Bobrovsky, which could happen tomorrow, it will be less than the numbers were. Definitely real interest.” (this was before Friedman released Bobrovsky’s above numbers)
He could see Nico Hischier for just under $12 million.
He could see Quinn Hughes sign a three-year, $18 million extension sometime in July.
The Edmonton Oilers don’t like the contract the Pittsburgh Penguins want to give back to Darnell Nurse. The Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins are interested. The San Jose Sharks are very interested, but Nurse is only looking to the Eastern Conference for now.
The Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs are among the teams interested in Mason Marchment. The San Jose Sharks would be a romantic favorite.
Alexander Nikishin of the Carolina Hurricanes is receiving interest. He is not eligible for the offer sheet. The Rangers’ offer of a first-round pick and another in the draft was rejected.
The Kings, Flyers, Maple Leafs, Mammoth and Canucks have shown interest in centers Noel Acciari, Erik Haula, Boone Jenner, Scott Laughton, Colton Sissons and Kevin Stenlund.
Vincent Trocheck wants the East, but Utah is interested.
The Kings were interested in Haula before the deadline, but he was injured.
If the Winnipeg Jets trade Hellebuyck, Stuart Skinner would make sense for the Jets.
Possible blue line options for the San Jose Sharks – Ian Cole, Jamie Oleksiak or Jacob Trouba.
The Tampa Bay Lightning like Ryan Shea, but they are interested in Werenski and Carlson as well.
Zach Werenski Trying to go to Toronto or Tampa?
Think the Carolina Hurricanes and the Seattle Kraken can give someone a sheet. Jason Robertson and Mavrik Bourque are potential targets for the sheet.
- Bruce LeVine: “In addition to all the barred trades, several teams are expected to offer RFA Mavrik Bourque a contract. This will be the most tumultuous 48 hours of the Jim Nill era. He always finds a way through but this whole situation may not be fixed.”
