Can Madison Square Garden sell out concerts for wedding bells?

If Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are indeed planning to walk down the aisle at Madison Square Garden on July 3, they’ll have to first pull off a final makeover.

While reports and speculation continue to circulate about whether Madison Square Garden could play a role in the couple’s wedding plans, luxury event designer Larry Walshe told Fox News Digital that the iconic venue will need a dramatic makeover to shed its concert nature and become a romantic, event-ready venue.

“It can take a lot to make Madison Square Garden feel romantic, intimate and unforgettable, but there is a first for everything,” emphasized the celebrity event planner, who has worked with Rihanna, Adele, Anna Wintour, the British Royal Family and others.

Unlike beautiful venues that become part of a wedding backdrop, Walshe said Madison Square Garden presents a different challenge because designers will first have to erase the familiar feel of the stadium before creating something entirely new.

“Here, you need to hide the idea, and you need to create a blank canvas before you start doing anything,” he said. “First, it shrinks and then it starts building.”

Fortunately, he said, the local manufacturing infrastructure gives designers a valuable starting point.

“When I go into my brain, like a visionary and I start thinking about all the things I can do, you get the light and the trickery,” Walshe explained. “So those pieces will really help. But what you’re looking at now is how do you soften that space? How do you make it smaller? How do you make it feel like there’s a sense of femininity in it? How do you make it feel romantic? And there’s a challenge.”

Walshe said the next step involves incorporating design elements that transform the arena into a more intimate space.

“And then, from there, you start to look at that now as a blank canvas and you work with flowers, you look at another magnificent infrastructure that you can build on to create almost, like the quality of the style of living in the environment.”

TAYLOR SWIFT, TRAVIS KELCE’S WEDDING FRENZY OPENS ONE STRONG COURSE

Once Madison Square Garden is drained and softened, Walshe explained, its greatest weakness actually becomes one of its greatest strengths.

“He has the ability to do something world-class,” said Walshe, founder of Larry Walshe Studios. “He has the ability to do something that has never been seen before.”

Soaring pitched ceilings and built-in fixtures open the door to design features that are impossible in most traditional wedding venues, allowing for stunning installations and production of great value that can transform a space into an unforgettable experience.

Besides the design opportunities, Walshe said the property offers another big advantage for someone with Swift’s level of fame.

“What’s interesting about that is that the site itself is an infrastructure responsible for security and privacy,” he explained. “And certainly, if this happens here, that’s probably a very strong consideration. The actual way the area is built allows that part to be controlled.”

“So here, at least you have that ability to make sure someone of that bad reputation can feel reassured, and relax and enjoy their wedding day, which, frankly, anyone deserves the right to do.”

Keeping a celebrity marriage secret is one thing RoseMarie Terenzio knows firsthand after helping John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette pulled off one of America’s most famous secret events.

“If you can, keep it small and intimate and don’t give away details,” he told Fox News Digital. “Tell your guests to save the date for something else and create a fake event. When you choose a venue, try to have it somewhere you visit regularly or in a way they know well. The key is to let everyone in on the mystery, so invest in the surprise!”

As a former aide to John F. Kennedy Jr., he helped orchestrate the secrecy surrounding his 1996 marriage to Carolyn Bessette, relying on deep deception to keep reporters off the couple’s trail.

“I remember being very happy for them and I want to help them make their wedding a secret,” he recalled. “I was terrified of it leaking and ruining them. We made fake routes to Ireland and left them around the office. A reporter called that day and asked if he should book a flight to Ireland and I said, ‘I wouldn’t if I were you.’

Terenzio said that even marriage activities that seemed to be normal become activities that are carefully monitored to avoid being reported to anyone.

“Carolyn and I were at the ‘George’ offices late at night printing wedding plans because we didn’t want to go to professional printers because we were afraid they would leak,” said the communications expert.

He remembered that the paper kept moving and later woke up in the middle of the night, fearing that the programs had been left on the office printer. Terenzio ended up rushing to the office to check twice before he breathed his last.

While Terenzio believes privacy is important to any celebrity wedding, he’s not sure Madison Square Garden will host Swift and Kelce’s ceremony.

“I don’t think the actual wedding will be at MSG, but I think it would be a big celebration for Taylor and Travis for friends and fans,” he explained. “Taylor Swift has an emotional connection to her fans, and I could see her having some kind of viewing party/celebration that they could see outside the garden.”
