Queen Camilla faced criticism on Tuesday after posting a photo of herself with “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling.

“With a shared love of books and a deep commitment to reading for children’s enjoyment, the Queen and author JK Rowling met at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh,” said a caption on the royal family’s Instagram page. “Her Majesty and Ms Rowling discussed the importance of ensuring young people have access to books and the important part reading plays in opening doors for future generations.”

One critic wrote in the comments: “As a fan of the Queen and her Reading Room I am very disappointed to give JKR a platform, any month but especially during Pride Month. There are so many other admirable people to highlight who are fighting for reading for children and young people.”

Rowling has clashed with the transgender community in the past over her comments about non-feminists.

In 2023, she took a picture on social media saying “Repeat after us: Trans women are women” and said “No” and said she would “happily do two years – [behind bars] if the other is a forced speech and a forced denial of the reality and importance of sex.”

This came after supporters urged her to vote for the Labor Party, which at the time was reportedly considering making gender identity attacks a crime.

In the 2020 issue, Rowling wrote: “So I want trans women to be safe. At the same time, I don’t want to make girls and pregnant women any less safe.”

“Not in gay pride month,” wrote one commenter. “If tone deaf was a picture,” one laughed, another called it “bad.”

Rowling previously revealed to fans that she turned down the honor because she didn’t want the title.

Another fan added, “Rowling has done so much good for the UK and the world. Few would dream of having that impact.”

Rowling has also been criticized in the past by some of the actors of the movie “Harry Potter”, including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, although Watson says that she still cherishes the time she spent with Rowling.
