As someone who tests new vacuums every month, I can easily see why a robot vacuum is better or why cordless vacuums are better. If you’re having trouble deciding, my final piece of advice is always to get both — I promise there are budget-friendly ways to do so, especially when there are so many great Prime Day deals.
Should I get a robot vacuum or a stick vacuum?
A robot vacuum is the way to go if you know, deep down, that the only way your home will be cleaned every day is if a robot does it. A cordless vacuum is the way to go if you’re picky about cleanliness and find the job tough rather than boring. If you’re feeling a bit romantic, there are plenty of deals on splurge-worthy vacuums I’ve reviewed like the Dyson V15 Detect Extra or the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete.
But most people can find themselves wanting access to both types of vacuums, depending on how busy their day is. If so, I would recommend that you split your vacuum budget. Instead of spending $700 to $1,000 on a really good vacuum, you can buy a budget-friendly stick vacuum like the $269.99 Shark Clean & Empty and a budget-friendly robot vacuum like the $399.99 Dreame D30 Ultra CE. Both are still incredibly powerful for their price, and there will be plenty of options to mix and match as more vacuum deals come out at the end of Big Day on June 27.

Why we love you
For years, we’ve been conditioned to shove ugly vacuums into wardrobes when not in use – or let gray or black designs sit out in the living room, no matter how badly they clash with our decor. That changed when Shark released its Luxe collection in early June. Its powerful self-emptying PowerDetect Speed stick vacuum now comes in four chic earth tones: Oatstone, Harbor Slate, Walnut, and Sagewood. All earned a $100 discount at SharkNinja.

Not only are these Shark PowerDetect Speed models the best vacuums I’ve ever seen, but the Shark PowerDetect Speed is the best cordless carpet cleaner I’ve ever tested. The suction power is noticeable in your hand, but not so strong that the vacuum fills the carpet. All debris is automatically emptied into the storage dock each time you hang it up, so your next cleaning session will always start with a clean slate. You will be able to easily see how much gun is in each room, especially.

Why we love you
I tested and loved the Eufy C28 when it came out in February 2026. And I have a feeling it will remain one of the most recommended robot vacuum and mop combos for a year or so.
The Eufy C28 is probably the most affordable robot vacuum you can find, and easily the hardest working robot vacuum of the season. The soft roller extends all the way under the vacuum and cleans itself with clean water as it flows, making it a more reliable option for soaking up large liquid spills (without getting wet) than other cheaper robot vacuums. Its self-draining dock also washes and dries the mop after each cleaning, so it’s easy to forgive how annoying the noise is.
