I watched House of the Dragon’s Jace Velaryon DJ at his own funeral

During the week, The House of the BeastHarry Collett watched hundreds of fans witness his death on screen. But first, he played for them.

HBO celebrated The House of the BeastThe first episode of Season 3 features the episode’s rooftop viewing party at New York City’s Pier 17.

Before screening began, fans were treated to an epic Battle of the Gullet (including the tragic death of Collett’s Jacaerys Velaryon), the event featured DJ sets by Mister Sunday, Marc Kinchen, and Collett himself, playing The House of the Beast-themed soccer jersey.

For people who didn’t know what to expect from Jace, Collett’s performance was a fun way to sing into the new season. For those who knew what was to come, it sounded like a fury before a funeral.

It didn’t help that the images on the screen behind Collett foreshadowed her character’s fate. The screen reads “Harry Collett” in a watery background full of shipwrecks, hinting at the Battle of the Gullet and how Jace dies: stuck in driftwood. Not cool, graphic designers! I wanted to sing Cheryl Lynn’s “Got To Be Real,” to be reminded of Jace’s impending death!

The good vibes from the DJ sets changed when the episode started, and the energy went from party mode to The House of the Beast mode. The attendees are locked up harder than Jace locking up Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) in Dragonstone. (Soon?) Watching around a group of people in love, you might feel the watercooler moments being born in real time.

Fans applauded when Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell) claimed Sheepstealer, called out Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) and the annoying Alicent (Olivia Cooke), and faced endless attacks throughout the Battle of the Gullet.

When Rhaena hit Gullet, there was an explosion of excitement. But when the Sheepstealer got angry, that cheer turned into a pitiful scream. Elsewhere, Alyn of Hull’s (Abubakar Salim) takedown of Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorn) earned cheers and screamers, ending in despair as viewers thought Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) might be dead.

It all culminated in Jace’s death, which received the loudest (and most painful) scream of the night. As sad as it was to see the poor prince covered in arrows, Boromir style, hearing this reaction was a reminder of the power of the TV community, especially events like TV. The House of the Beast. It’s so much fun to watch with other people, to experience this bubbling up and down together, even if what you’re watching is a beloved character sinking into his watery grave.

While the night ended badly for Jace, the same was not true for Collett.

After the test, he returned to the stage, the screen now read “All men must die.” On the other handwell. On the other hand, who else says they have their own funeral?

“Thank you for accepting me as your Jace for the past five years,” Collett told the audience. “Loyalty has been a lifetime’s work.”

Collett went to cut a huge Iron Throne cake – what else? – a large sword.

After the cake was completely slain, he gave fans one last tease about what’s to come post-Jace. The House of the Beast: “I hope you enjoy all of season 3, because it’s an absolute banger.”
