Sophie Cunningham turned the court before reigning Angel Reese, Spurs-Knicks ticket price and Saban!

We did it! We arrived one Friday. Until the first weekend of June. Wow. Everyone can breathe now.
And hey! In June, we have a very busy weekend on tap.
- NBA Finals (for those interested)
- Stanley Cup
- Super Regionals
- Memorial tournament
- The Belmont Stakes
Honestly? It’s not the worst lineup you’ll see this summer. We are also experiencing an unusually cold June down here in Florida, which is good. By “cold front,” I mean it’s 82 instead of 92, but that makes a big difference this time of year.
So, yeah, we’re rolling right now. A lot of pressure. Let’s get one last class out of this week and get out of here.
Welcome to the Friday Nightcaps – the one where Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark dominate Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream, on and off the court. You will see.
What else? I got the best of the rest from a loaded week of # content, Scottie tearing up his new card after a water ball off the tee, and more Nick Saban talk in June.
HERE’S WHAT NICK SABAN AND NOTRE DAME’S PETE BEVACQUA ARE NOT ABOUT NIL RUINING COLLEGE FOOTBALL
OK, grab yourself a veggie burger It’s National Veggie Burger Day — throw it straight in the trash and get a Bubba Burger instead — THEN settle in for a Friday ‘Cap!

Caitlin and Sophie set the tone and took Game 1
Let’s spin the wheel and begin … the WNBA! That’s right.
Look, I wouldn’t do it, but if Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham and Angel Reese are all down at the same time, I have to. I’m nothing if not a sucker for the Google Algo.
The Fever won the first match of something called “The Commissioner’s Cup” last night defeating Reese and the Dream. For those who don’t know, that now makes Caitlin Clark 6-1 against Reese since the famous college finger spot, which I’m sure will please most of you.
There were a few story moments from the show, especially this little sequence in the first half that I think is about to be used whenever an Angel Reese fan tries to say she’s better than Caitlin Clark:
Lord. It’s not good! Why is Angel Reese near the three-point line? It seems silly to me, but I admit I’m not a huge basketball fan.
The box score tells me that Reese finished with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), while Clark finished with 17 but shot just 6 of 17 from the floor. For those interested in +/- stats, Reese was -2, and Caitlin was +2.
All paled in comparison to Sophie, who finished with eight points off the bench and a +11 from the field.

That’s our girl! Remember where you first met Sophie Cunningham, boys and girls. Right here, in these spaces, last year.
He made a name for himself last summer when he defended Clark after a hard tackle, and he’s been going to the races ever since.
Perhaps we should have known he was geared up for the big game when he arrived on the field dressed like a skullwasher.

Such a week of content!
Yes, I mean … it was curtains the second time those two appeared to look like that. All is well in Fever Land. Phew. Now we can get on with our lives and have a great weekend.
But first, let’s review a week’s worth of content that could be going through communities. First? Let’s go back to 1994 and check out OJ!
Scottie and Nick took us home
What a week. solid, sollllllllid, internetweek #contentforeveryone. Well done.
A few thoughts…
- The admission price for Spurs-Knicks on Monday is insane. $8,000 is the CHEAPEST ticket yet? Honestly, if you had tickets for this game … would you sell them? I think I will. In fact, I know I will. Call me easy.
- Amazing things are happening in West Virginia right now. Please, give me two more weeks in the Mountains.
- What is the worst fictional football penalty you have ever experienced? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it.
- Is Scottie Scheffler sad right now? He seems upset.
Speaking of … let’s speed up Friday’s class to a big weekend. I know this happened yesterday, but, Lordy, it should be addressed in this class:
- I never thought that was in the water.
- I do not know what to do.
- I can’t hear a word you’re saying right now.
- I don’t think you understand how frustrating that is.
- I hit a good shot, and I fall because you can’t fix the wind.
Good grace. On the other hand, it’s lovely, because Lord knows if there’s water to be found on a Par-3 tee shot, I’ll find it. Each time. Without a doubt.
On the other hand, it’s NOT MEETING because I wouldn’t think to talk to someone like that after a golf shot. Really, I couldn’t imagine a world where I would ever be well enough to talk to someone like that after being shot.

Scottie has seemed uninteresting to me all year. He just seems … sad. OK? He sounds like Brooks Koepka from 2023-25. That’s not the stage you want to be in.
Go, Scottie. Golf. Let’s have fun!
Finally … it seems like everyone here agrees with Nick Saban after his recent Capitol Hill speech about the current state of the NIL in college sports. OutKick’s inbox is full of emails about it. Most of you are mad at Ian for attacking Saban, which I find funny.
Ian is an excellent host. Don’t let his anti-SEC nonsense fool you!
From Owen K. in Arkansas!
I played football in the SWC/SEC in the late 80’s early 90’s (University of Arkansas) and my son just graduated from a BIG12 school (Kansas) where he also played. The college game has naturally changed over the decades, but the NIL has done something completely different. He turned it into a trading business.
Coach Saban is stating the obvious, but he’s also benefited from having the best players at every position at times three-deep. I don’t believe it was right either.
My alma mater gave me the opportunity to graduate and play football. I knew I always wanted to be a doctor and my college experience opened those doors for me to become an orthopedic surgeon. It is not the Alabamans of this world who are harmed by the NIL. They can cry a river for me. Arkansas and Kansas casualties. The chance to win big is based on money now…not team chemistry, lucky breaks, or ‘diamonds’ where the pan outs come out. Those diamonds are being taken by big money groups now.
Thanks, Owen! It’s hard to argue with any of that. Rent is now a surplus. It doesn’t matter. It’s all about the depth of the pockets at Booster Club HQ, and how deep they’re willing to go. That’s all.
Will I still watch on Saturdays? Hell yes. You bet.
Will it feel the same? Not really. It is what it is.
However, 84 days until Week 0.
See you Monday.
