Nashville Predators and Chris MacFarland Heating Up

The Nashville Predators and Chris MacFarland have had a lot in the past few weeks. It looks like the two parties are closing in on a deal.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, MacFarland owner and Predators majority owner Bill Haslam met Sunday night, and the plan is to do this as soon as possible.

Chris MacFarland; Nashville Predators Predictions

The Colorado Avalanche wrapped up their season last week against the Vegas Golden Knights. MacFarland’s name began to circulate at that time. Was it a distraction and part of the reason the Avalanche lost in the Conference Finals? It is possible. But there’s a reason the Avalanche haven’t held year-end media availability until now.

Unlike the Vegas situation with Bruce Cassidy, which was resolved shortly after the Stanley Cup Final, the Avalanche gave the Predators permission to talk to Chris MacFarland. As of writing, MacFarland was looking for the GM job in Anaheim. This was before Joe Sakic was promoted to President of Hockey Operations and gave MacFarland the title of GM. But the Avalanche won’t hold MacFarland.

From the beginning, the Nashville Predators have been looking for someone from outside the organization to lead their hockey operations department. Although Bill Haslam owns the Predators, minority owner Nick Saban is involved in the process. They wanted to bring a successful mindset to the organization.

There are many names tossed around, including Tom Fitzgerald, Darren Yorke, Ryan Martin, Tyler Dellow, Marc Bergevin, Martin Madden, and other Predators spoke to. Also, teams like New Jersey, Vancouver, and Toronto all made general manager changes after the Predators and named a new head of hockey, while Nashville is still in the process.

However, the belief has always been that where there is smoke, there is fire. Chris MacFarland is expected to be hired by the Nashville Predators.
