Chelsea enter race to sign £52m star West Ham now willing to sell
Chelsea have entered the race to sign the “impressive” star, while West Ham United are now ready to sanction a summer move for around £52m.
The Blues are set to change their transfer policy in the coming window
It would be fair to say that BlueCo’s recruitment strategy of signing young players has not paid dividends, after finishing 10th in the Premier League last season, and Ben Jacobs has suggested that the board will now change their approach somewhat.
The reporter said: “Chelsea will sign two or three experienced players who are ready this summer.
“Chelsea may look for a striker, depending on what happens there with the available players, and elsewhere.”
Rogers could be an exciting signing, having already proven himself in the Premier League over the past two campaigns with Aston Villa, scoring 21 goals and providing 19 assists in 85 top-flight appearances.
With Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge up in the air, with the Blues completely missing out on European qualification, Xabi Alonso may need to sign a new midfielder, and now a raid on the rival club is planned.
Chelsea are entering the race to sign a “disappointing” star.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Chelsea are now in the race to sign West Ham star Mateus Fernandes, who is attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa also interested.
Having been relegated from the Premier League, the Hammers are now ready to offload the Portugal international for a fee of around €50m – €60m (£43m – £52m), with the Red Devils currently leading the race for his signature.
The Hammers are facing ‘financial pressure’ after being relegated for the first time in 14 years, meaning captain Jarrod Bowen is on the verge of leaving, while the Blues are in the running for the striker, who has scored 85 goals in 280 appearances for West Ham.
Losing Bowen would certainly be a blow, and the same should be said of Fernandes, who was hailed as “interesting” by West Ham Way’s Mark Carlaw in November.
Despite only being 21 years old, the maestro has already started to build up some good Premier League experience, picking up five goals and eight assists in 72 appearances, all times with the Irons and Southampton.
On the other hand, Fernandez was forced to apologize for his comments about Real Madrid in April, and he is starting to attract Manchester City, holding internal talks about a move.
However, Fernandes may not be in the same position, as long as he thrives defensively, and the Argentine star poses a major threat going forward.
