Liverpool are set to make more sackings after Arne Slot as FSG plot a reshuffle

Liverpool have sacked manager Arne Slot after a disappointing defense of their Premier League title.
Liverpool sacked Slot with Iraola leading the charge as his replacement
The fans turned on the Dutchman after a series of poor performances – the team lost 19 times this season – and there was a standoff in the dressing room with the outspoken Mohamed Salah.
Sources insist that the decision was taken with “great reluctance”, admitting that it is unheard of to turn down a coach who has won only his second league title in 30 years.
However, it is understood that the decision was made based on what they believe to be a good opportunity going forward and the club’s management feel that the team should change to an aggressive, front foot, urgent style of football.
That reflects Salah’s comments on social media earlier this month when he called for a return to “iron football” played under predecessor Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool insist that the desire to change style should not be seen as a criticism of Slot, whose status as one of Europe’s best coaches should not be doubted.
“Liverpool FC can confirm that Arne Slot will leave his position as coach with immediate effect and that the process of appointing a replacement is ongoing,” the statement said.
“He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation.”
Liverpool’s next steps after Slot’s sacking
Andoni Iraola is the frontrunner to replace the Dutchman after the former Bournemouth boss rejected interest from Crystal Palace to move to Anfield.

The manager has chosen his preferred location.
And the changes won’t end there, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who revealed on Twitter that FSG will restructure the coaching staff following Slot’s departure.
“The decision to appoint a successor is ongoing as Andoni Iraola is the leading contender. The main objective is to hire a candidate who best suits the preferred style of play.
“Know that there may be other changes in the coaching staff.”
Liverpool sacked manager Aaron Briggs in December, and went from one of the worst teams in the league to one of the best.
Slot’s assistants, Sipke Hulshoff and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, probably the next in the firing line have arrived at Slot’s time.
Liverpool have suffered a number of first team injuries this season which have led fans to question the strength and effectiveness of the staff, so fitness coach Ruben Peeters could be at risk.
